The people have spoken. Focus Features has revealed the moviegoing public’s choice of the official theatrical release poster for Dee Rees' Pariah.

We've covered the contemporary drama extensively on this site, including the initial call to vote last month.

See the winning poster after the jump.

So, there you have it. Hope your favorite was chosen.

Pariah will open in exclusive engagements in New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco on Sunday, December 25th; and will expand to additional cities throughout the winter. The movie will also screen on Monday, September 12th at the Toronto International Film Festival.

I'm trying to figure out whether it's a good or bad thing that its opening on Christmas Day, mostly because the blockbusters will overtake it. I suppose the niche audience(s) for the film will help it win out though...even if it's not the first week.

I think people should be more concerned about the film reaching a black audience than whether it will get an Oscar nomination. It is about time in the year 2011 that the black lesbian experience reach a black audience. Black lesbians encounter multiple forms of oppression from the black, white, and queer communities.

Just happy this film is coming out. I hope people take notice of them film. Like they did Precious. And maybe an Oscar nom or few. Because any publicity for it would be good.

That wasn't the one I voted for. In fact, I don't remember this one. But I like it. I thought this was one of the best films I saw this year so far. Congrats to Dee Rees and Nekisa Cooper. They're awesome ladies.

The yellow was better but whatever, the movie coming out is all that matters.

The trailer was playing before a packed house of a showing of "The Debt" I attended yesterday. That's big time.
