Does Ms. Washington know something we don't?
Last time anything was mentioned on S&A about a film biopic of Chisholm was back in 2010 at the old site, when Tambay posted about Viola Davis being eyed to portray the the 72' presidential runner for a democratic nomination in a feature film written by Camille Thomasson and produced by Bryan Gambogi and Grant Anderson of Creative Monster Productions.
Although, I couldn't find further information in the production company's website, the film Chisholm is listed in imdb under Creative Monster Productions' credits with a release date of 2012 and showing in pre-production. However, no word on whether the project is alive and/or if it's affiliated with the project Regina King has in mind.
Hopefully we'll find out one way or another, sooner than later, if a feature film is actually in development. It would be interesting to see King tackle this role.
Meanwhile here's a clip of the 2005 documentary Chisholm '72 Unbought & Unbossed, a doc that I must watch, like, now!

Regina Arnold is a true gem. Talented and very sharp. Seems like perfect casting to me.

YES. I'm all for Regina in this role. I've seen the Shirley documentary. I even got a chance to meet her years ago. An amazing story of an amazing woman.

Don't think Chisolm was the first Black presidential candidate, but this is an interesting post.
Reagan is the pres
but I voted for Shirley Chisolm

Great, great news! I <3 Shirley Chisholm. She was more than a Black candidate, more than a female candidate. She was for the people. Regina King can definitely do the part justice.

...Willie Brown won't be pleased. CBC will be on their toes too. Regina can do it. I hope she works the Chisholm accent!
