According to Variety, Rob Brown, last seen on the big screen in the 2008 Ernie Davis football biopic The Express, has signed on to join the cast of The Dark Knight Rises. The highly anticipated Christopher Nolan-directed action thriller, which we have given much coverage on the site, also stars Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman and Anne Hathaway. The Dark Knight Rises is set to be released July 20, 2012.

Brown, repped by WME and Affirmative Entertainment, has had prominent roles in the films Coach Carter, Take The Lead and Finding Forrester. He also co-starred in the HBO series Treme.

I guess casting is still going on at this stage of the game! We've already seen Anne Hathaway and her stunt double in action. Anyhow, we don't know what role he'll be taking on, but I'm glad to see him come back to the big screen. He's an actor I appreciate and wish to see more of. :-)

    {{ Interesting how Morgan Freeman won’t be the only black fellow this time. }}}}

    He wasn't the only black in the last movie either. There was the soon-to-be-dead commissioner making another appearance, the criminal who tossed out the bomb on his boat and of course the countless black police guys shot point blank after saying "hey, you."

    The thing is this film should be in the stages of wrapping up so I can't imagine Brown having an important role. Perhaps he can Black Cop #3 To Be Shot,. Christopher Judge and Daniel Sunjata can be cops #1 and #2.

    One of my favorite-under-the-radar- actor's- i could see him in a bio-pic as jazz legend-John Coltrane.

    Casting...Still?! Someone must have gotten fired and they needed a quick replacement.

    Rob Brown was great in 'Finding Forrester'. An underrated and underappreciated classic. It should have been much more critically and commercially successful and won a truckload of Oscars.
