On September 29, Irish actress Ruth Negga (Breakfast on Pluto, Misfits), as reported on this site back in August, stars in the BBC Two biopic Shirley, in which she portrays iconic Diamonds Are Forever singer Dame Shirley Bassey. Negga is reported to have only had eight days to prepare for the challenging role.

Negga can also currently be seen at The Old Vic, London SE1, in the stage production of J.M. Synge’s three-act play, The Playboy of the Western World. In the satiric/tragic comedy, Negga once again stars alongside actor Robert Sheehan, with whom she has shared screen time on TV programs Misfits and Love/Hate. The Playboy of the Western World is scheduled to run until November 26.
