And.... we're down to the last 1. This is it - the #1 post/item on S&A in the year 2012. And it really shouldn't be a surprise that this is #1 - seriously!
Once again, recapping what I said about this series several days ago when I started it... Since last week, I've been counting down the top 10 S&A posts/items of 2012, considering a number of factors, like number of comments, Facebook "likes," Facebook "shares," Twitter retweets, page views, and more.
Number 10 on the list, posted last week Monday, was Cybel's A Cinematographer’s Plea to the Budding Film Auteur : Move Your Camera. If you missed it, click HERE to read (or re-read); number 9 was Sergio's analysis on why Red Tails didn't perform strongly at the box office, especially after all the hype leading up to its release. You can read that post HERE; and number 8 was Andre Seewood's examination of the Sophia Stewart/The Matrix conspiracy, which you can read HERE; number 7 was the controversy over the music video from Erykah Badu and The Flaming Lips - The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. Read that HERE. Number 6 was on the ups & downs of the Andre Benjamin/Jimi Hendrix project; Read it HERE; number 5 on the list, was Scandal, which you can read HERE; number 4 was Luther. Read that post HERE; number 3 on the list was Tyler Perry. Read it HERE. And finally number 2 in our countdown was the upcoming Zoe Saldana/Nina Simone project.
The number one hot-topic post of 2012 on S&A was... drumroll... Django Unchained!
Like I said, no surprise, right? It's a project we've been reporting on, covering, analyzing, critiquing, dissecting, anticipating, praising, etc, etc, etc, since it was first announced publicly in the latter half of 2011, when Sergio broke the story that it was happening, followed by my review of the script, and all the successive posts that would follow, whether on the film itself, or on topics related to the film's subject matter, leading up to its eventual release on Christmas day, last year. So, really, it's only been in theaters for a week, But it feels like it's been out a lot longer than that, given how much we've written about it over the last 18 or so months.
Each and every single post on the project was met with heavy discussion/debate, with comment threads running into the high 100s in a few cases.
It's most certainly been quite the hot topic, and I expect it will continue to be in the new year, although we've sworn not to write about it any further - unless a story about it breaks that demands we cover it. But you flks can feel free to continue to discuss in the comments sections, as you have been doing over the last week.
Instead of me summarizing everything we've written about the project, as well as your varied reactions, I'm going to point you to the links for each key post on the film, in chronological order; so if you missed any of these posts, as well as the comments in response to them, you can visit them now (or revisit, if you'd like).
What will be the #1 most discussed item on S&A in 2013? Well, it begins now... see you a year from today!

And that's just a sample...
Happy New Year to you all!
