S&A Top 10 Posts Of 2012 - #7: The Controversy Over The Erykah Badu/The Flaming Lips Music Video

Number 7

I missed a day, so I'm posting 2 today.

But first, recapping what I said about this series a few days ago when I started it...

I'll begin counting down the top 10 S&A posts of 2012, considering a number of factors, like number of comments, Facebook "likes," Facebook "shares," Twitter retweets, page views, and more.

The countdowan will continue through next week Wednesday, as we enter the new year, when the top post/item will be revealed.

Number 10 on the list, posted on Monday, was Cybel's A Cinematographer’s Plea to the Budding Film Auteur : Move Your CameraIf you missed it, click HERE to read (or re-read); number 9 was Sergio's Analysis on why Red Tails didn't perform strongly at the box office, especially after all the hype leading up to its release. You can read that post HERE; and number 8, posted this morning, was Andre Seewood's examination of the Sophia Stewart/The Matrix conspiracy, which you can read HERE.

Number 7 on the list is that controversial music video from Erykah Badu and The Flaming Lips - The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. Remember it? It premiered in June, and shortly after, I posted it here on S&A.

As you might recall, reactions were very strong to the video, in a single post that racked up over 300 comments, and about 10,000 Facebook "likes."

And I'm not even counting the follow-up posts, which included some offensive and defensive play from Badu and The Flaming Lips, culminating in The Lips remaking the video sans Badu.

The entire episode dragged on for a solid month, from early June to early July, and while we certainly didn't cover every single retort from both sides, we reported on the major occurences, and reactions from you folks were strong almost every time - but not just on this blog; pretty much across the web, this was a hot topic.

It all seems so long ago, now that it's mostly forgotten. But June isn't too far in the past.

I'm sure everyone who wanted to has seen the video by now; if not, it's embedded below.
