Newly released poster for the 4th installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise, titled Ghost Protocol, which sees the return of regulars Tom Cruise and Ving Rhames (though he isn't in the poster), as well as the addition of newcomers Paula Patton, Jeremy Renner, and others, with Renner's role here being Cruise's heir apparent, as this might be his last go-round with the franchise.

Also, Brad Bird directed this one, his first live-action film, after directing animated critically-acclaimed crowd-pleasers like The Incredibles and Ratatouille.

The film opens December 21.

The trailer if you haven't seen it; full poster underneath:

Normally I would have no interest in an MI:4 after MI:3, but Brad Bird's directing it. And he made one of the best superhero movies ever (after Superman 2, Spiderman 2, X Men 2 and The Dark Knight). So Brad Bird will get me to the theater.

Not feeling the Eminem rap. WTF

Otherwise looks good. Tom Cruise owns this. And I can't wait to see what Paula Patton brings to her role, besides sex appeal.

I guess Ving was right when he says Tom Cruise loves to make black people rich. How the hell did he make it to the 4th movie?

Is Ving really is this movie, because I didn't see him.

It actually looks pretty good! I am no TC fan, but he definitely worked the MI Franchise and I will see it. The trailer looks great and I am curious what Brad can do. The Incredibles, yeah I know it was animated was brilliant.

Hope it's not as weak as the last two films.

I like Tom cruise in the Mission Impossible franchise. Its completely his, he's made it what it is. He's a great action star. I dont think I could take another serious or feel as involved with another actor playing in the IMF.

Kinda like how Pierce moved over for Daniel in James Bond. I still prefer Pierce.

I'm going out on a limb and say that Tom Cruise will do a lot of running... :-(

Paula Patton flaunts her sexy new post-pregnancy curves in this movie which probably added to her performance in delicious and wonderful ways.

All of the Mission: Impossible movies are set in their own alternate reality/universe and each movie ignores the events of the other movies.

Trailer and poster look very promising.... I hope Renner isn't inheriting the franchise. He's already been handed the baton for the Bourne movies--I think one action franchise should suffice for him.
