The Sony Pictures' film doesn’t come out until Sept. 26 and already the smell of sequel is in the air.
Sources have confirmed that even though the film won’t be out until the fall (hell, we can’t even get though winter yet), and the image above is the only thing we’ve seen from the film so far, a sequel to The Equalizer, based on the 1980's CBS show, starring Denzel Washington and directed by Antoine Fuqua, is already in the works.
The film is reportedly testing so spectacularly with test preview audiences that Sony is convinced they have a huge hit on their hands, and has already hired screenwriter Richard Wenk (The Expendables 2, The Mechanic - the Jason Stratham remake, not the 1972 Charles Bronson original) to start writing it.
No word as yet on if either Washington (who has never appeared in a sequel before) and/or Fuqua (who has never directed one either), will return for the sequel, if the studio decides to greenlight one.
If anyone out there by chance has been to one of the test previews, tell us what you thought of it.
