Amidst all the excitement over news of Shonda Rhimes‘ pairing with Issa Rae to set up a project (I Hate L.A. Dudes) at ABC, we neglected to mention that Rhimes sold another new project - a comedy/drama titled The Mix - to ABC as well.

Written by John Hoffman, The Mix will be set in the behind-the-scenes world of a morning talk-show, similar to The View or The Talk. It'll revolve around the public and not-so-private lives of 5 very different women who host an influential morning talk-show.

No word on potential casting yet, but you can bet the cast will be diverse.

Rhimes and Betsy Beersher producing partner at her Shondaland production company, will executive produce The Mix, while Hoffman is writing and co-executive producing.

So if this and Issa Rae's project go to series order, Rhimes would have as many as 5 different series on ABC. Not many showrunners can make that claim.

    The next Aaron Spelling.

  • Jai | October 4, 2012 5:35 PMReply

This sounds like Star Jones' book Satan's Sisters.

  • Jaron | October 4, 2012 8:46 PM

    Agreed!

  • ALM | October 4, 2012 7:41 PM

@ Jai: I was just thinking the same thing.

  • Skrim | October 4, 2012 4:52 PMReply

THIS is who Oprah should have aligned with to test the waters at OWN with scripted programming, not her BFF Tyler Perry.

  • Agent K | October 5, 2012 12:00 PM

@Skrim Ok since you're sensitive to profanity I'll hold my tongue but don't dare use the word bully. "Classless nut"? Says the guy with such a dislike of TP while praising Shondala. Your arrogance still shows.

  • bondgirl | October 5, 2012 10:12 AM

@Skrim: Well, I guess you told me. The simplistic hack is YOU, and you don't even know it. Thinking you have any productive idea what Shonda should do, is the height of hubris. She isn't topping any Forbes list, therefore she is undercutting herself, right? Try again, Pinocchio. At her current rate of success, what she can "easily have" is an IPO in 5 years. Sizing her up against Tyler is like comparing Ellen DeGeneres to Donald Trump. Got any advice for Denzel on how to act?

  • Skrim | October 5, 2012 9:19 AM

Save the fucks for yourself and whichever hand helps you achieve them, Agent K. Leave it to some classless nut on a message board to think they've won an argument with profanity. Whereas I respond to the topic, your kind is busy trying to bully me. You cope with disagreements away from the Internet the same way, no doubt. Tambay is long overdue in using an ejector seat for this foolishness. Some people Ned their clocks cleaned like Nicki would Mariah's.

@CareyCarey I was in and out of it....Some interesting casting choices. I liked the juxtaposition between the first lady and the minister's wife vs Pope and the mistress. Also liked the way the first lady's arc is coming along and her interactions with the president. Perkins character- in and out. It's losing me.... but I'll hold on until...Pope needs more meat literally and figuratively.

  • Agent K | October 5, 2012 12:44 AM

@HMMMM Why do you keep thinking I'm CareyCarey?

  • CareyCarey | October 5, 2012 12:15 AM

Whatsup HMMMM, you got this thang going on with my name, so let me in on it. I mean, it's nice when others recognize what little contributions one may add to the conversations, but man, ya gotta let go. I am not Agent K, Skrim, Bondgirl or Frankenstein, so HMMM, baby baby please, miss me with your best shot. But before you go, what did you think of tonight's Shonda? Did you watch the show? Scandalous- huh?

  • Hmmm | October 4, 2012 11:38 PM

    I agree CareyCarey ;)

  • Agent K | October 4, 2012 11:03 PM

    @Skrim
She can team up with whoever the fuck she wants to. Such arrogance.

  • Skrim | October 4, 2012 10:31 PM

No. I have advice for you, though. SHUT UP. Shonda Rhimes could easily compete with Tyler Perry in the marketplace if she branched out a bit more. She isn't considered a simplistic hack either. Oprah is on a learning curve that could have cost her the network with clichéd celebrity reality shows. Don't be so sure that the perfect decision has been made to rectify that. To think, you posted that drivel no less than 3 times!

  • bondgirl | October 4, 2012 10:05 PM

If you truly knew how to make better business decisions than Oprah, then you'd be the billionaire, and she'd be yelling from the stands like you. Got any advice for Warren Buffett while you're at it?

  • Adam Scott Thompson | October 4, 2012 7:27 PM

    Sustained.

  • SHEBABY | October 4, 2012 6:25 PM

    Agreed!

  • sandra | October 4, 2012 4:12 PMReply

This is the kind of news I like to hear! Onward and upward! Having said that, I hope her "B**** is the New Black" project is dead. We don't need anymore stories about black single women.

  • D.C. Kirkwood | October 4, 2012 7:53 PM

I agree 100%. Best wishes to her though.
