"Single Ladies" Season 2 Debuted Last Night; Did You Watch? If So, Reactions?

What? No S&A Single Ladies Talkback session?

Tambay tells me that your reactions to recent Single Ladies season 2 posts were weak, suggesting that you all aren't very much interested in the show, hence no S&A talkback like we did for Scandal, since you guys evidently determine what we write about :)

But an open thread is allowed for those of you who are fans of the series.

Season 2 premiered last night, Monday, 9 pm, on VH1, picking up where season 1 left off.

There was one big difference however: Val (Stacey Dash) is no longer part of the show, and viewers were introduced to her *replacement* Raquel (played by Denise Vasi).

If you all make enough noise, maybe Tambay will change his mind, and since it seems like I'm the only S&A writer who watches the show, it's probably going to be me running the show.

If you're one of the 3 million (last year's numbers) who watched episode 1 of season 2 of the Queen Latifah-produced Single Ladies last night, thoughts? Comments? Reactions? Positives? Negatives? Worries? Anything?

It's not yet public what kind of numbers it pulled in; I couldn't find anything online.

Honestly, Stacey dash was a horrible actress, with an annoying voice to match, especially when she was surprised or sad. Maybe she's better compared to Denise Vasi but honestly they all need a little help in the acting department. Despite that, I actually started liking Denise Vasi, ignoring her acting skills and focusing on the story line. I think people assume Stacey Dash made the show just because her character was in the most interesting drama, that sadly never got revealed. As a result, everyone over looks the fact that she still can't act and her " Diva " attitude clearly shows. I think Lisa plays her part the best, not because she's a good actress but because she's kind of like that in reality.
Anyways I love the show & if you seperate yourself from season 1 and Stacey's horrible acting that magically captivated people, you begin to actually love it !

I am really mad that Stacey left single ladies, i don't understand what this show is about. I waited a whole year to finally have the time to watch me the second season of single ladies and turns out the main character that started single ladies ain't there. Are you for reals. please put Val back on. This show is nothing without her. i seriously din't understand how they even made a second season without her. The boutique is Val's and she is the one that made it. Please bring Val back in any new season. I miss her.

  • keekey | September 3, 2012 1:48 AMReply

I think that single ladies was OK this season but real fake, I mean it's suppose to be about single ladies but SD replacement sleeps with anybody and she's more of a hoe than a lady... I'm still looking forward for single ladies but I don't know how often I will tune in

  • Coco | September 1, 2012 2:20 PMReply

Lets keep it real...Single Ladies 2 was bad in acting and writing. PLEASE hire some talented actors and actresses. This year 2012 story lines were BORING and WEAK. This year comments on radios, social media and hair salons “What happen to Single Ladies?" However, the men of single ladies were so handsome that folks kept watching. Last year 2011 story lines and cast members were AMAZING and FINEST which made great TV watching. Men and women fans were entertained and glad to see class, fashion, entrepreneurship, and diverse talent on the small screen. The pilot season was the real deal period.

  • audrey | August 16, 2012 12:45 AMReply

Single ladies need Stacey Dash back. This season has been very disappointing. It is hard to watch. It's missing that certain swag from SD.

  • Lynn | September 1, 2012 2:25 PM

I agree 100%... Season 2 was very disappointing.

  • Jules | July 29, 2012 10:10 PMReply

I can't see SD comng back...too late for that. She was seaon 1 and reason for a season 2. SD was the show, so the director should have provided a comparable replacement. I was looking forward to season 2, even w/o Stacy. Just very disappointed with a capital D.

  • Nita | September 1, 2012 2:31 PM

Never too late for SD. She was the best!

  • Dana | July 27, 2012 8:32 PMReply

PLEASE BRING STACEY DASH BACK! This show is definitely not the same, it has gon downhill to a point where I don't even watch it anymore. Stacey Dash definitely made the show, her character and wardrobe blew everyone away

  • sarah | July 27, 2012 10:46 AMReply

Single ladies has gone down hill. Every week the acting and the story line gets worse. Despite Stacey dash being an apparent 'Diva' and difficult to work with for the other actors/actresses she made the show and that cannot be disputed. The new actress the replaced her with cannot act! She needs to go to acting school its embarrassing to watch!

  • Marlene | July 17, 2012 5:53 PMReply

Fantasy people...fantasy!!!! This show is far from reality and that's what makes it light, humorous, and entertaining... Keep up the good work ladies.

  • La Donna Stephens | July 8, 2012 4:30 AMReply

I hated the first few episodes of Single Ladies. Something is seriously lacking, the whole show is completely very phoney and monotonous. With Val gone the show just isn't the same. Don't care for the new girl at all. Please bring Val back!!!

  • Karolyn | July 3, 2012 5:43 PMReply

Single Ladies Season 2 is HORRIBLE. The acting is terrible and they need new writers. The story lines are weak. Also, the new girl - sad to say she cannot act worth a d***n; and Lisa Raye sounds like she's reciting her lines. The first season - I couldn't wait to see, but season 2 ugh!!!. Stacy Dash made that show and I feel that Lisa Raye was "hating" on her. Even though some people say that Ms. Dash was annoying - that's what made the show. At least get rid of the new girl and replace her with someone who has the " wow acting factor". Now, I forget the show is even on.

  • Jay | June 27, 2012 8:17 PMReply

Single ladies = Bad acting! The acting is so horrible I just can't get into it. The story line sucks, it pulls you all over the place and never ties together. Dropping local celebrities on the show is not going to give it the WOW factor, they need new writers and better actors and actresses, the show sucks!!

  • vil4real | June 27, 2012 12:01 PMReply

I opted out of this show, when Stacy left. From what I have read, I don't think I'm missing anything.

  • BigD | June 26, 2012 12:20 PMReply

Queen Latifah is a jerk for letting Stacy Dash go. She much be screwing the new girl because there is no other reason for her to be on the show.

  • Lauren | June 25, 2012 1:28 PMReply

The new season of Single Ladies is a HUGE disappoinment. I was not a big fan of Stacy Dash, but geez the new chick is absoutely the worse. I would have rather seen the show continue without the addition of this day time television chick. I have not watched it since the first episode. Good luck with a season 3.

  • Fran | June 19, 2012 6:47 PMReply

I hope they bring Stacy Dash back for guest appearances. The show just isn't the same without her.

  • CASSIE | June 18, 2012 3:02 AMReply

The new girl Rachel played by Denise Vasi is absolutely horrible. Her acting is extremely fake. She is NOT an actress and is completely overly dramatic. She reminds me of a little girl in her room with a big pinky fluffy boa and a tiara playing tea party. Her performance is painful to watch.

  • Cheryl | June 13, 2012 12:11 AMReply

Here's a post ....single ladies new show sucks. But the men are hot as hell.

  • Allyson | June 12, 2012 5:04 PMReply

I watch all my shows in the Internet now, so which ever TV Station is not depicting this one and that one correctly doesn't phase me. People are still complaining about BET and no one has done anything about it.

Single Ladies is a fictional TV show, that will have some truth to it, some laughs to it, some OMG no she didnt to it. It's entertainment.

  • Allyson | June 12, 2012 4:41 PMReply

The newcomer, I'm trying to figure that one out.... It's like she came out of no where and fans are just left with the story of "moved to Milan and selling biz cuz can't face ex-boyfriend..." that is certainly a poor way to start a new season when you're trying to hold on to the past fans.

My husband and I will still watch but writers, PLEASE KEEP THAT WRITING TIGHT! You need to keep us fans on our toes itching to see the next episode.

  • Allyson | June 12, 2012 4:37 PMReply

I think Ms. Dash was getting too "cutesy" for my taste. Sometimes I wanted to gag. Felt like she was trying to play this cute lovable sometimes ditsy white chick and I was waiting for her to curl her hair....oh I think she did....

Ms. Lisa Raye - what was up with the make up one the second season, felt like the yellow eye shadow was on in every single scene...and didn't go well with most of her outfits esp. if you're wearing peacock blue (sorry but I pay attention to details)

I love this twist on "Sex In The City".... Oops did I let THAT one out....

    newcomer, I'm try

  • Brenda | September 1, 2012 2:38 PM

Not even true at all about Ms. Dash...come now...she is and was the show

  • Jordan | June 12, 2012 5:44 AMReply

Lost interest with this season. Malcolm is no longer the strong male he played in season one. The storylines do not maintain my attention. Stopped watching mid show of the third episode.

  • twala jones | June 10, 2012 9:09 PMReply

I watched the show last season and was blown way. I thought it was great! This season I am not so blown away as of yet. The new girl doesn't have the same sex appeal as Stacy Dash.I feel as though she is trying to act like Stacy's character would act but she is not able to pull it off. I don't care what anybody says, Stacy helped to make that show. Now that she is gone I have a feeling that the ratings will go down. I like the new girl, but not to replace Stacy. If she were added to the show in addition to having Stacy then that would have been cool. Good luck...

  • Margo | June 10, 2012 4:22 PMReply

I watch the first and second new show. The new cast member missing something. There was something that Stacy Dash brought to her role that gave the show it. Can not find the word to describe the it it was just there. Lisa Rae Mcoy was better as the supporting actress . She just does the same thing over and over no matter what role she is playing. They should try to bring back Stacy Dash.

  • Brandy | June 8, 2012 9:22 PMReply

Stacey Dash is a horrible actress. I'm glad she's not on the show.

  • Kara | June 6, 2012 5:43 PMReply

I'm a bit disappointed in this season thus far. The dance scene with Jerry was pretty lame. I also didn't like the 2nd episode with April showing her friends the vajay jay...ewww. William Levy, he can stay!!

  • Veronica | July 31, 2012 6:36 PM

I agree at least Stacey Dash could act, Lisa Rae can't it is too fake and forced.

  • Sweet | June 6, 2012 4:17 PMReply

Absolutely terrible! I was so excited to see the new season only to be utterly dissapointed by the lack of chemistry, bad stroryline and even worse acting. The new girl exudes corniness in every way and is unrelatable with her throwing tantrums with her "mommy", riding horses and getting it on with the stable boy in broad daylight lol really???

I was disappointed with Episode 1......gave another chance with 2...OK I'm officially done...what was the whole dance scene with Keisha and Jerry...thought I was watching a musical. Stacey had the true talent she had years in the game....Lisa Raye just isn't strong enough to play lead actress nor any of the ladies. The writers are horrible. I read the argument that lead to Stacey leaving was over some lines. I think they should have listened to her and fired the writers. Its really sad because I loved Season 1.

  • Renee | June 5, 2012 6:58 PMReply

in my opinion stacey dash was the real acting talent that brought the ladies up to her level. the men were pretty consistent. while lisa raye is a pretty girl, she cannot act her way out of a paper bag, thus making it really, really unbearable to watch. that is the pink elephant in the room that no one wants to say. the reality is no stacey dash, no show...i will not be watching!

  • renee | June 7, 2012 12:12 PM

from one renee to another.....i couldn't have said that better myself

  • Nadine | June 5, 2012 7:09 PM

Yeah... Stacey was the one and only talent. Lisa Raye requires therapy and behaves like an overinduldged, bratty little girl. I am saddened by her behavior... always.

This show is horrible. Stacey is gone and she was the best. I tried to watch this show, but, it's borrrrriiiiing. im gone

  • Wh | June 4, 2012 9:32 PMReply

The scripts are horrible. They are poorly written and so unbelievable. Season 1 wasn't that great but it was much better than this. The new girl's acting is bad and really trying to be another Val. I think that is what they wanted when they picked another women like Stacey. I stopped recording the series after half of episode 2. I think William levy is hot but to see her try to get it on in a stable all in the open in the middle of the day!!! Give me a break.

  • Louise | June 4, 2012 11:34 AMReply

I LOVE THE SHOW!!!! Its awesome!!!! Don't know why some people don't like it!! But its your opinion I guess... You're missing out though... Its very entertaining and I also like the new actress...
Watched the Season 2 Episode was great as always. Can't wait for the next episode...

  • Holly | June 3, 2012 5:59 PMReply

I couldn't watch the first episode past the first commercial break..... I enjoyed Stacey Dash's character during Season 1 and now it just doesn't feel as fun to watch. I would like to see more shows depicting savvy women of color but this one has to develop better. On a personal note, please bring back Living Single! Now that was a great show.

  • Allyson | June 12, 2012 4:59 PM

Bring back ANYTHING thats better than what we're watching on any station right now depicting black people. Single Ladies really has something going here, but again need better writers with fresh ideas and not rehashing from other shows

  • selk | June 3, 2012 4:30 PMReply

Single ladies season 2... horrible the new girl is incredibly annoying! i feel like she is trying to act like stacey dash and doing a horrible job. didn't think it could get much worse. im not sure

  • Jessika | May 31, 2012 3:24 PMReply

the new girl does not have any chemistry with any of the main characters. when she spoke was as if she was reading from the script and had no emotions! plus the sound of her voice is so irritating and its as if she's trying to be the new Val but it is not working at all. I was looking forward to the new season but I don't know how many more episodes I'll be able to watch

  • Akimbo | May 31, 2012 1:10 PMReply

Didn't think the acting on the show could get any worse, but Denise Vasi took it to a whole new low. It's really say that, on a show titled "Single Ladies," the men (D.B. Woodside & the Winfrey dude who plays 'Omar') are the only ones with any talent. And aside from the gay guy's flamboyance & Lisaraye's moneylust, there's nothing that's particularly stereoypical (especially in a negative way) on the show; it's just painfully STEWPID.

  • inya | May 31, 2012 12:32 PMReply

I thought the show was good and I will continue to watch...I don't see the negative stereotypes that some people are talking about. These women are just the same as any other woman, black, white, latina, indian, chinese, women are going to be women no matter what color they are. The comment by Kid Chaos is such a stereotypical and easy way to disrepect black people in general. Hopefully people who have a brain know that the crap you see on these reality scripted shows is not how A LOT of black women act. The white reality shows where the women are mean and scream at each other seems to be okay with society, but if a woman of color does it, somehow she's considered ghetto or a hot mess. Wake up and stop lumping certain bad behaviors by other individuals and placing them on an entire race.

Production value on the series is up, if you are into glitz and eye candy. However the line story is hit and miss, mostly weak. Why in the name of Proctor and Gamble is LisaRae's character falling for the crap of her con boyfriend if she is supposed to be so wise to his so called game. She is suppose to have better survival instincts and love isn't suppose to over ride her preservation skills. Oh, and that crap about the FBI making her money issues with the IRS go away is just that crap. As for the new cast member her character is not much better. Catching her fiance' screwing on the day of their wedding announcement, anyone familiar with a meltdown? The betrayal would have made headlines. Simply not believable. The rest of the cast still doing the same old antics. Hopefully we will see in short order some real direction and character development. If not bye bye "Single Ladies".....

  • Jai | May 30, 2012 6:52 AMReply

The acting is still very bad, at this point I'm watching for the male eye candy.

  • the black police | May 30, 2012 5:35 AMReply

I liked the first season. My thoughts: 1. this episode felt rushed. all i remember was scene after scene after scene... just felt weird. 2. i cant believe it but i really miss Stacy Dash. she was the central lady so i guess its understandable. 3. the new girl sucks. i cant feel any emotion from her. when she caught her fiance cheating i felt absolutely nothing and that really sucks. 4. my interest in the show has dwindled.

  • Allyson | June 12, 2012 4:48 PM

Yes I think here should have been more on the fiancé cheating bit. Again the show started with these two ladies going to a party of someone we the fans don't know of, only the characters, then we're suppose to immediately feel sorry for her because she caught her man cheating, only to relive she's replacing the main character.... Come on...who's writing this?!

  • misha | May 31, 2012 12:28 PM

I have to agree with you here, TBP. While I've never been a huge fan of Stacey Dash, I actually liked her character and related to her being a hopeless romantic. However, I didn't think her leaving the show was a big deal...that is, until I watched the season 2 premiere. I mean, I knew her "replacement," Denise Vasi, wasn't up to the task. As I've said, she already proved during her time on All My Children that she had as much charisma/screen presence as a block of wood. Still, I wasn't expecting to miss Stacey, especially since I had other reasons to tune in. But her presence was definitely missed. And it didn't help that I was left feeling lukewarm by the "reunion" of Malcolm and Keisha, my main reason for watching. Ah well, I am kinda looking forward to this triangle of sorts, involving those two and Keisha's ex-lover/lawyer, despite Terrell Tilford being the male equivalent of Denise Vasi.

  • Kid chaos | May 29, 2012 10:23 PMReply

I feel like VH1 is joining forces with BET (Black Embarrassment Television) to confirm every negative stereotype about black women.

  • papa | August 16, 2012 5:36 PM

The mood, the swag, the everything about this seoson is so different and boring i now know val was major, is she ever coming back?

  • the black police | May 30, 2012 5:32 AM

    1. Please explain how this show did that. 2. Dis Sex and the City confirm stereotypes about White women?

  • Marcus Jermaine Watson | May 30, 2012 1:32 AM

True, but at least they are trying to counter-balance that negative image with some of their new shows, including "Single Ladies." We all know Vh1 isn't going to produce the next "Mad Men," so any show that doesn't involve drink throwing or weave-pulling is fine by me. And BET was on the right track until they picked up "The Game" and turned it into the hot ghetto mess it is today.
