One of the most controversial and discussed films on S & A has defintely been the raw mockumenatry (or is it a documentary? - there's still a difference of opinion) movie Snow On Tha Bluff. You can search S & A to find the various items we've posted about it, and numerous comments it has received.

The film is, no doubt, an indie sucess; and now the producer of Bluff, Chris Knittel, and the director, Damon Russell, have a new documentary film project which they are currently casting for.

The premise for their new film project clearly deals with American soliders who have served in either Iraq or Afghanistan, their experiences there and the lasting effects it's had on them.

What Russell and Knittel are looking for:

Looking for charismatic, intelligent, and outspoken returning military veterans to appear in a upcoming film. Age, race and gender are unimportant, but you must have served a tour in either Iraq or Afghanistan to apply.

Also looking for rural, roughneck country types. If you've grown up in the South, lived in rural areas all your life, and have an interesting personality, we are looking for you.

The film will be mostly documentary with a dash of embellishment. We want to explore how you’ve changed as a person after the war and what life is like for you now that you have returned. We will interweave the elements of your real life with current events and loosely scripted scenes.

If you are interested please send the following  this e-mail address fuzzylogic0101@gmail.com :

- A brief description of yourself

- A few pictures or links to online videos of yourself.

- Your Age, location, etc.

- A quick description of where you served, some of your experiences and what it is you want to say to the world.

- If your applying for the veteran role, put "veteran" in subject line. If your applying for the "country type" role, put "country" in subject line.

All info will be kept confidential.

I've seen "Snow On Tha Bluff", and it was by far, the most 'true to life' crime-drama I have ever seen. It left an impression. It's amazing how you quickly forget that it's a movie, and you immediately become immersed in the environment. It's rare to find a film that does this, and the documentary-style lends itself to creating a World outside the movie. I would definitely classify the film as a 'docu-narrative

I look forward to the next film. As a student of film theory, I feel that these guys are at the beginning of a great career.... if they continue to be honest and truthful with their work. This is what will separate them from the typical Hollywood drab. The buzz and success of this indie film reminds me of the many directors I grew up with in the early 90's.
