As Sergio questioned yesterday, whether Soledad O'Brien was indeed leaving CNN, it looks like she's definitely leaving her morning program - Starting Pointfor good. But her alliance with CNN isn't over completely.

Announced in a press statement this afternoon, O'Brien has formed a production company called Starfish Media Group, which will produce 3 documentaries for CNN in 2014, as the start of what will be a partnership that will see O'Brien's company produce what is being described as a series of long-form programming specials.

O'Brien in a press statement, called it an opportunity to "focus on the next stage of my career, owning my own work." The latter half of that sentence is key.

On Thursday, amid all the speculation of her exiting the network completely, O'Brien addressed that on The Wendy Williams Show this morning:

"As you know, it's been reported a lot that the morning show is going a different direction... So, we're talking about what ways I can contribute to CNN, doing the stuff that I like to do which is hard-hitting journalism..."

She went on to specific her interest in doing documentaries.

Let's not forget that CNN recently created CNN Films, which will produce and/or acquire documentaries to broadcast.

Since Jeff Zucker took over as President of CNN Worldwide in January, this is just one of a number of programming changes that have been made.

A new morning program hosted by Chris Cuomo is expected to replace O'Brien's former slot, in April.

Wow! Soledad is breaking out so she can have more of a future and ( to use her words), "owning her own work". Let's celebrate that! Give her some dap for wanting to expand her future. Now, what she does with her opportunity is another thing. Wait for the final results before you judge her.

Ignorance is still free huh? @Jedtcg, she is a BLACK woman who married a white man, why wouldn't she still be a positive "Soul Sister" @Sergio & Jen, A mind truly is a terrible thing to waste

Let's be real. Ignorance regarding this issue can be found a lot on this site.

Also on the Soledad Slate: "How to be High-Yella and Marry a White Man But Still Remain A Positive Soul Sista Within Public Perception." I've already pre-ordered my tickets.

I know how because black women seem to celebrate the successes of women from other races all the time. You know how so many black women supported Hilary. So why she should she have a negative soul sista image when many black women look at women of other races as their sisters.
