The release date for the action thriller, which stars Zoe Saldana as a vengeful killer on the hunt for the murderers of her parents, has long been expected to be September 2nd of this year.
But earlier today, Sony Pictures announced an official release date of August 26th, 2011, exactly 1 week before.
The film, directed by Olivier Megaton and produced and co-written by Luc Besson, should win that weekend, as, as of today, the films it'll be competing with, that are also opening that weekend include a horror movie called Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark (starring Guy Pearce and Katie Holmes), the indie dramedy Our Idiot Brother, starring Paul Rudd, and the drama/thriller, The Debt, which has an impressive cast (Helen Mirren, Ciarán Hinds, Tom Wilkinson, and others), but is a Focus Features film, which means it'll more than likely open in limited release.

As much as I'm looking forward to this, I gotta agree with previous commenters. It looks like a rehashed Nikita/ Kill Bill/ Salt project! Whatever..I wish Zoe the best

To be very honest there is nothing special about this flick. She is playing a female assasin out to avenge her father's death.
The trailer makes no sense to me i don't know why the actor who plays her dad keeps on saying, "don't forget"?? Forget what? Did i miss something??
I am not a fan of Zoe Saldana's movies she doesn't come off as being "strong" in her roles. Hmmm...I dunno.

In the bigger picture, is Zoe a serious contender for Female Actions Star throne? She has the looks. Her acting is solid enough for the genre. Do you guys think she has the rest of the package? Especially the "it" factor.

This movie looks boring it reminds me of too many films that deal w/ a child witnessing the death of a parent and growing up to avenge mom/dad's tragic death. I dunno what else to say that's just what i think.
