"Southland" Star Regina King Adds A New Social Media Title To Her Resume

According to a recent press release, looks like Regina King can add another title to her resume...Social Media Ambassador.  The actress, who currently stars on the popular TNT network show Southland, was just named SAG Awards Social Media Ambassador for the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards airing live on TNT and TBS Sunday, Jan. 29.

Through posts on Twitter and Facebook, King will serve as the online face for the awards, giving viewers unprecedented access to behind-the-scenes moments during the weeks building up to the show, as well as from the red carpet.

Her duties will kick off when she announces this year's nominations on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 9 a.m. (ET)/6 a.m. (PT), telecast live on TNT and online at and During the six weeks leading up to the Jan. 29 simulcast of the award ceremony, King will continue to tweet and post about the SAG Awards, including updates on presenters and fashion. She will also post updates during rehearsals and provide her thoughts and insights from the red carpet on the big night.

So now you have another reason to keep your Facebook and Twitter accounts!

    This is great. She doesn't get enough attention. Hopefully at some point she'll get a SAG, a GG, and an Emmy for her role on Southland. Dt. Lydia Adams is seriously the best, most dynamic female character on TV right now. Actually, male or female, she's one of the best I've ever seen. If you're not watching the show, start now!

    This type of exposure is long overdue for this illustrious actress. She is often the unspoken star of the productions she's been in. I will, most definitely, pay more attention to the SAG awards this year, and I can honestly say its just to get Ms. King's insight, because the mass market screen is still a prickly situation for the African American actor/actress.
