About That Popular 'Black Films Don't Sell ...Special Screening of "Slavery By Another Name" Tonight in NYC (Sam Pollard in Person)
We've shared quite a bit on this site about the film, which challenges the idea that slavery ended with the Emancipation Proclamation by examining America's corrupt legal system during the years after the Civil War.
Following the screening, award-winning filmmaker Pollard will appear on a panel alongside Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Douglas Blackmon, author of the book Slavery By Another Name, and Sheila Curran Bernard, writer of the documentary.
The event is hosted by professors June Cross and Bill Grueskin and is sponsored by the Sevellon Brown fund at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

Anyone who has the opportunity to attend should do so. I saw this a few months ago when it aired on PBS. It's a shame that not too many seem to know just how many years slavery has endured in the U.S. Worldwide it is also shameful how acceptable exploitation has become and just how quickly people will try to silence someone who points this out by throwing around phrases like 'class warfare' as if they were poison darts.
Hopefully this documentary will be aired on PBS again so more people can watch.
