Certainly not the first time an original Spike Lee joint will have played outside of the USA... assuming of course the sales company is able to sell the film internationally.

Recreation (the sales company) and media fund Incentive Capital will represent Spike Lee's Red Hook Summer in the international marketplace, starting with a screening at the upcoming Cannes Film Market, but a private screening just for international distributors.

The market runs from May 16 - 25.

As you already know, for those in the USA, the film will be released in theaters this summer - August 10 - starting in NYC, followed by a national rollout courtesy of 40 Acres and A Mule Filmworks in partnership with distribution company Variance Films.

And if you missed my interview with Variance Films chief Dylan Marchetti posted on S&A a couple of days after the Variance Films deal was announced, you're strongly encouraged to read it HERE. Lots of very good, useful info.
