VH-1's new reality series T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle pulled in some really big ratings and a whole lot of viewers for the network.

The show, which features the rapper (I've lost count. Is he currently in jail or out? He keeps going back and forth), his odd looking wife (Go ahead and jump on me. You all know it's true, but afraid to say it), his family life, and chronicles his attempts to return to his music career, premiered Monday with two back to back episodes; the first pulling an estimated 4.3 million viewers, while the second episode did slightly, better drawing 4.5 million viewers.

That's especially impressive compared to VH-1's other big hit show Basketball Wives which, on average, pulls in around  2.6 million viewers.

The success of the show helped VH1 become the top-ranked cable network among the adults 18-49, and women 18-49, with the exception of sports networks such as ESPN.

I think maybe Oprah needs to sign T.I. and Tiny up for a show on her OWN Network.

On one of your shows I saw you were teaching your kids about giving. I was wondering if you in Tiny would take the time out to view some of my kids talents, and maybe produce them shout outs from the New orleans people show some love you can contact me at (504)564-8458 I admire what your doing as a father in a black man keep up the good work!

Wonderful to see reality TV showing parents teaching their children the proper way they should go. May you have many years on the air. Would love to see Major grown. He's a piece of work. LOL

I seriously enjoy watching your show. However, I have one question about Messiah not having more verbal involvement. He is very handsome, looks like you T. I. and it seems that more emphasis could be placed on him at some point.

  • phillygirl | December 27, 2011 12:55 PMReply

Why is everyone commenting on what this man wrote? He wrote the truth. She is odd looking, what the heck in all honesty she is ugly. What I do admire is that they appear to love each others very much and T.I. doesn't care what people say about her. Love is blind and he sees a beautiful women.

  • mslily | January 3, 2012 11:36 PM

she was very pretty in the late 80's/ 90's as member of Xscape....plastic surgery got a hold of her--to pump up the lips, fillers in the face, etc. Bad Choice!! had thin lips from mom who is white....should have left it alone....she didn't know it would turn out like that. find older pics when he first met her and you will see. she seems like a very sweet lady.

  • Destiney Bridges | December 15, 2011 8:53 AMReply

I dont have cable but i plan to watch this soon i love T.I

  • Chele Belle | December 11, 2011 1:51 PMReply

Don't have cable...and I don't plan to download episodes so I'll not be watching this spectacle. That said I am intrigued at how petty, nasty and infantile people get about Tiny and her relationship with T.I. She has endured much in terms of his failure to NOT stay in trouble with the law. And in turn he seems to want to play the role of devoted husband to offset any past or future legal failings. Would it be better if she was 'pretty'...or 'fine'? Either way.

It's true. She's odd-looking and trust, that's not just being said by Sergio. And I go here to learn what's going on the world of Black cinema and not to feel like I'm a seasoned intellectual. Diversity in the expressions of the writers on this blog I think will make it more successful.

"just know [CareyCarey]you can not lecture anyone about shame" ~ TROLLHUNTRESS

Again Mr or Mrs. TROLLHUNTER, that's not true. Listen, as ARTBIZZY so eloquently stated "free speech is awesome and being PC all the time can get fake and boring so I can appreciate at times someone saying something not so cool because they can" I Troolhunter, or whatever your real name is, try to stay as honest as I can to myself and the words I write. Now, since I am not a seasoned writer (I write like I talk) it's safe to say my words can be interpreted incorrectly. And, as you know, some folks just love to twist sh*t for their own selfish agenda. So I am suggesting a person can only be embarrassed and shameful if they believe they've committed a grievous error. Consequently, even if what you said was true (referring to Monique and I, which it is not) regardless, I can speak about "Shame" all day long. I mean, look at it like this. If your breath stank like a sewer, could you offer another person a stick of gum if their breath smelled like a pot of chitterlings? And, would you consider that a wrongful deed or shameful act? I wouldn't. I would view that as a helping hand.

Guess I'm the only one who's noticed that Sergio's actually been turning down the snark for a while. I think the same thing applies here like watching an episode of the Boondocks: if you're easily offended, don't watch... in this case, don't read. If you've been around a while, you know how he is. If you want to have a serious conversation about this reality show, do it. Frankly, I had no idea who these people were until I googled them and found their mug shots. Worse things could've been said.

  • artbizzy | December 10, 2011 1:20 AM

Oh please. Easily offended? Nope. Easily irritated? Hell yes. As much as if I sat down on a whoopee cushion when trying to sit down and bang out my thoughts on S&A. This thread should have been titled, "Sergio Needs Attention Even If It's Negative Then He Needs A Hug That He'll Say He Doesn't Want Because People Think He's Bad And Going To Hell" instead of posting this Reality show announcement as a smokescreen. In this post, he even invited people to go ahead and jump on him the way people always seem to because he of course speaks the truth. I'm just following directions.

  • CareyCarey | December 10, 2011 12:36 AM

@ JMac, I hear you. I actually like Sergio's hard edged snark attacks (always have). I just couldn't resist dog piling on the rabbit. I mean, as you've said "If you've been around a while" (and Sergio has said many time) this is what he does and he loves doing it. I ain't mad at'em... I just like jackin' with him and his chin was hanging out in the wind.

  • CareyCarey | December 9, 2011 5:47 PMReply

I'd bet Sergio farts at the dinner table. I mean damn, talking about another man's wife is a new low. Seriously, I know you adore controversy and "hits" may be one of your major goals but are there no lines that you will not cross? And is there absolutely no shame in your game?

  • trollhunter | December 10, 2011 4:34 AM

i am one moniker King Troll Carey. lol paranoid? call me whatever other moniker you want but just know you can not lecture anyone about shame.

  • CareyCarey | December 9, 2011 11:50 PM

"That's rich King Troll Carey aka asshole. lol" Thanks TROLLHUNTER aka ZEUS?, I kind of like that name. And, I know you like this new format. It allows you to wear many hats and hide behind many names. However, I'm like Sergio. "I ain't got no shame, doing what I like to do". And again, like Sergio, I have a quote especially for you. "Until you do right by me everything you think about is gonna crumble!" ~ Celie

  • trollhunter | December 9, 2011 11:14 PM

Carey is lecturing about shame? lol. The same lunatic who insulted Monique's children because she wouldn't let you blab for 20 minutes on the podcast? That's rich King Troll Carey aka asshole. lol

  • Sergio | December 9, 2011 10:57 PM

There are no lines that I won't cross and as they say in Porgy and Bess : "I ain't got no shame, doing what I like to do."

  • Micah | December 9, 2011 5:05 PMReply

I have to agree with Artbizzy, unnecessary personal attacks on people or their spouses lowers the site. Many people look to this blog for intellectual conversation on the topic of film in regards to people of african descent. While your comment wasn't particularly malicious it was juvenile, mean-spirited and worst of all added nothing of merit to the overall all conversation about "us" in media. I appreciate that you like to shock people for shock sake but I'm sure your main goal is to make sure high quality films by people of African descent are getting made and recognized. When you engage in that type of discussion it definitely takes away from your message. That's unfortunate because you have useful knowledge and a great burgeoning platform to share it on. I'm neither a fan of "reality" TV or this couple so I won't be watching this.

  • Sergio | December 9, 2011 10:59 PM

"Intellectual conversation?" Not here and certainly not by me

  • Troy | December 9, 2011 1:18 PMReply

You can say odd looking, fine. But that is not said about all the odd looking Africans on this site.

  • KeepingItReal | December 9, 2011 1:05 PMReply

Serigio is so rude! How do your spouse look? It don't make sense for someone to be so damn nasty! Grow the hell up!

  • Sergio | December 9, 2011 1:24 PM

Baby I'm WORSE than nasty and rude. I'm actually very tame on this site. You should hear the really revolting things I say in private. O.K. so I'm going to hell.

And my name is Sergio NOT Serigio or however you called me.

  • al | December 9, 2011 12:50 PMReply

I know that this is a blog and we can speak freely but....before you comment about someone's wife you should ask yourself if you would make the same comment if she and her husband were standing in front of you. The above post has nothing to do with her appearance. It's easy to be a paper or computer tiger.

  • artbizzy | December 9, 2011 1:31 PM

Right! The schoolboy comments about people's appearances on this indy film site sometimes bring it down a peg. I'd love to see pictures of people who like to talk shit about what other people look like and see if it's possible they might be projecting a bit. On the other hand, free speech is awesome and being PC all the time can get fake and boring so I can appreciate at times someone saying something not so cool because they can, but still Shadow and Act is not 8th grade homeroom.

With respect to the Blog topic, I am over these reality shows but actually kinda like this couple for some reason. Probably won't be watching at least not too much, though.

  • Sergio | December 9, 2011 12:57 PM

    Yeah I would

  • Anwar | December 9, 2011 11:50 AMReply

I hope people don't jump on you for that "odd looking" comment because the girl looks like Miss Piggy. And I'm not joking at all when I say that.

  • Haley | December 16, 2011 3:38 PM

I agree, anyone that has eyes/sight would agree that chick is odd looking, that's being nice. But hey, she must have.somethin going for her, he likes her lucky girl! I'm a little jealous!

  • misha | December 9, 2011 11:50 AMReply

I'm not ashamed to say that I actually tuned in...and enjoyed it! Yep, sure did. :D
