As Sergio revealed in a post last week, BET Networks has effectively downsized its new fall series, Don't Sleep!, hosted by T. J. Holmes, which made its debut almost 2 months ago, October 1 during the 11-11:30 pm time slot, going up directly against highly-rated The Daily News with John Stewart on Comedy Central.

Some would say that BET acted a bit too hastily in making this adjustment to the series, given how long it's been on the air; others would argue that the series just isn't catching on as it needs to, and that BET had to make some kind of an adjustment sooner, rather than later, if the show is going to be given a chance to survive.

I've already shared my thoughts (you can read them HERE if you'd like), so I won't rehash; but what does the host of the show, T. J. Holmes think of the show, as well as all that's transpired in the last week - specifically BET's move to a 1 hour, 1 day a week format, from the nightly (Monday through Thursday) 30-minute broadcast.

In what I think may be the first interview he's given about the show and the recent cut-back, Holmes visited Power 105.1′s The Breakfast Club, in studio, and gave what I thought was a very candid interview about the show, BET, and recent changes.

It's just over 18-minutes long, and I think definitely worth listening to:

T.J. Holmes went to where anti-intellectualism thrives. IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. Lets be clear, just because you can rub two dimes together and amassed a few college credits does not make you middle-class. Most of you are Fat/Busted and unlovable. How dare you denigrate anything or anybody BLACK as being "low-class" If you from here your parents were slaves, if you from Africa you barely live past 35 there and your parents were probably Corrupt Thieves who pillaged the governments treasury. And if you a student - you BEGGED and PRAYED to get that limited visa. And if you from Europe..... everything about you - YOUR forefather STOLE. and yes, you hail from neantherdal man and caves.

"Most of you are Fat/Busted and unlovable." Wow. That statement reveals your true character. Your screen name means nothing. You could be anyone hiding behind a computer in Idaho. Who even brought up "low class" before you arrived on here to comment? No one.

How ironic that he would choose a low class show like the breakfast club to discuss anti-intellectualism. Who is Charlamagne but the chief N*gga of the airwaves. The breakfast club only focuses on gossip, sensationalism, and hype to stir up ratings for their show. All three of them are very immature and I never tune it to this show. I respect T.J. Holmes and he made some valid points but unfortunately it was wasted in this interview. Best wishes to him in future endeavors.

T.J.- It doesn't make any sense for a man to look that good that early in the morning. I apologize to your wife for lusting. Back to the video: One of the main problems is that BET has fallen out of favor with a lot of the Black population (those with the real spending power who are 29 and older). I avoid BET as much as I can, and I’m not the only one. T.J. did a good, tactful job of explaining the reasoning behind moving from CNN to BET.

Charlamagne is SUPER disrespectful as usual, using the “n” word. I still wonder what made Charlamagne and Wendy Williams fall out. T.J. shouldn’t use the “n” word either, even in private. That’s something I disagree with him on.

I do agree with the main host on the Power 105.1 show. Some (not all) of the people who care about this type of news no longer watch BET.

    T. J.’s comments on the lack of marriage material among Black men....Lord, Jesus!!! Woo Hoo......Great points on anti-intellectualism......

BET dumbing things down as usual.....discussions around a tie? BET= FAIL as usual. Cathy Hughes, use that “R&B Divas” advertising revenue and scoop T.J. away from BET. Buy him out of his contract or something. It shouldn’t be hard, because everyone knows that BET doesn’t pay their talent worth jack.

Will this show be available on Hulu like The Daily Show or The Colbert Report?
