Actor turned director Kevin Hooks turns 53 today. As an actor, the Philadelphia native has appeared in Sounder, The White Shadow, He's The Mayor and Soul Food among others. His directing credits include St. Elsewhere, Vietnam War Story, 21 Jump Street, China Beach, Roots: The Gift, Doogie Howser M.D., Passenger 57, Cold Case, Soul Food, Lost, Alias, Lincoln Heights, Bones, Drop Dead Diva and Detroit 1-8-7.

Tyler Perry welcomes 42 today. The New Orleans native was just named the highest paid entertainer of the year by Forbes magazine. His list of credits include Madea's Family Reunion, Diary Of A Mad Black Woman, Why Did I Get Married?, Meet The Browns, Madea Goes To Jail, House of Payne and Madea's Big Happy Family. Upcoming productions in the works include Good Deeds and For Better or Worse.

Idris Elba welcomes 39 today. The London native, who also deejays under the name "Big Driis the Londoner," has appeared in numerous film and tv productions which include Family Affairs, Ultraviolet, Law & Order, Dangerfield, CSI: Miami, Soul Food, The Wire, Sometimes In April, The Gospel, The Reaping, 28 Weeks Later, Daddy's Little Girls, This Christmas, The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, Obsessed, Prom Night, The Office, Legacy, Takers and Losers among others. Currently, he stars in the hit tv series Luther and will appear in the upcoming films Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance as well as Prometheus.

Evan Ross welcomes 23 today.
