They’re also intrigued by the chance to explore some of the latter-day additions to the [Captain America] mythos, like... his sidekick The Falcon, one of comics’ first black superheroes. “I want both of them!” says Markus... "Falcon is awesome. We can't play with time so much to have Cap go back to Harlem in the '70's and clean up the streets, but it would be awesome to go straight up, like, 'Shaft' with Cap and the Falcon.”

Just making my way back again from the set of the Alex Cross movie, and I'm feeling pretty up-beat about it. Tyler is great. He's going to blow everybody's minds. And Ed Burns is irrepressible, a real talent.

By now, I wouldn't blame readers if they started to wonder whether actress Zawe Ashton (The Bill, Sherlock, Misfits) had some cousins, aunties, or uncles here at S&A. But let me assure you that it's pure coincidence she keeps making news today. Sometimes an actor just hits his/her stride and starts making waves.

First off, let me express my surprise at the fact that (what seems to be) a pretty decent Jason Statham (The Transporter, The Bank Job) flick is going straight-to-DVD. I saw the trailer for Blitz last spring, and I was sure that it would be another in his long line of profitable "shoot-em-ups". Based on the Ken Bruen novel of the same name, Blitz looked like it would be the crime-drama of the summer. But alas, today we see the release of Blitz on DVD and Blu-Ray.

This is one of a few future projects that I'm genuinely excited about... the big screen adaptation of David Mitchell's challenging tome Cloud Atlas, which is being written and co-directed by Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run), and The Wachowskis, with Halle Berry, Tom Hanks, Hugo Weaving, Susan Sarandon, Ben Whishaw and Jim Broadbent confirmed in starring roles.

I've decided that I'll continue to update this post every time a new novel adaptation is announced; instead of waiting another year as I did the last time, and end up missing a few.

Nikki Amuka-Bird (Shoot The Messenger, Torchwood, Small Island, The Omen, #1 Ladies Detective Agency) has one of those faces that makes you say, "Haven't I seen her somewhere?" More than likely, you probably have.

A follow-up to my post a few days ago on Viola Davis creating a production company with her husband, and the projects she plans to produce with it, specifically one that she described as "a period piece about African-American homesteaders."
