Cinematographers Love Toys. Cybel Reviews Cine Gear Expo - NYC

For those unaware: Cine Gear Expo is a trade show that happens once a year. There are seminars and exhibitor booths showing off the latest technology and services in film production. Sadly, the NYC expo is nowhere as extensive and diverse as the shows in LA or NAB in Las Vegas. What follows is what gear caught my eye, appeared to be an improvement over what I currently use and seems feasible given my typical budgets. You can’t really judge any equipment until “out in the field”, but this is a good start.

Yesterday I announced the screening of Charles Burnett’s Killer of Sheep, along with the filmmaking masterclass he's leading at the British Film Institute on Oct 2nd (HERE). But if you can’t make it or want a second chance to see him, you'll have some more opportunities.

I won't arrive in Los Angeles for the festival until the 16th of this month, but thankfully the "genius bastard" himself, Mr Brandon Wilson (find him on Twitter HERE) who lives in Los Angeles, and who has covered events for S&A in LA in the past (you should have read all excellent his reviews of films at the UCLA LA Rebellion retrospective last fall) will be representing Shadow And Act in a panel discussion titled Diverisity In Film Criticism at the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles exactly one week from today, February 13th, from 5:30pm to 7pm.
