Hey folks - as I'm sure you've all already noticed, the entire indieWIRE network of sites is undergoing a design change. The switch was to happen last night at 9PM, and, while that did occur, the transition hasn't been as smooth as expected, so the IW tech wizards have been working since last night (behind-the-scenes) to get the entire network back up and running.

Sometimes the brain doesn't work as well as it ought to. By that I mean, I found out three months ago that the comedy documentary Phunny Business: A Black Comedy, produced by Raymond Lambert, and directed by John Davies, was coming to the Showtime cable channel in Feb. 2012, but it slipped my mind. Oh well better late than never.

Independence Day director Ronald Emmerich has reportedly finished penning the screenplay for the alien invasion thiller's sequel. The 1996 blockbuster, along Will Smith, starred Vivica A. Fox, Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman. According to The Lantern, who spoke to Emmerich Monday night, the director is trying to reunite most of the original cast for Independence Day 2.

The Justin Chadwick directed, The First Grader, starring Naomie Harris, is a film that has been covered a good deal on this site. At the World Soundtrack Academy Awards this past weekend, music composer Alex Heffes took home the Discovery of The Year award for his work on the film.
