"I just had my first time directing yesterday. I’m working with my sister directing episodes for a pilot with Vin Diesel called The Ropes, about the lives of bouncers. We’re so psyched. I had the most amazing first day of shooting. I was on the set for 12 hours, went to bed at two am, was up again at 7.30, my energy and brain completely alert. I can’t wait to get back on set. After one day on set, I’m feeling the itch. I’m also directing a video short for Glamour magazine. And I’m in talks to possibly direct a film in Montreal, but I don’t want to say too much about that until it actually happens."

"Elba's plans for world domination should also see him spending more time in London. BBC2, he tells me, has commissioned him to direct a 90-minute film set in Hackney. "It's a small tale about a young girl that I've been working on for about a year. I'm not writing it, but I'm helping shape the script and hopefully we'll get to work on it at the end of this year." He has also produced a British teen-slasher movie, Suicide Kids. And there's life in Luther yet: both Elba and Cross are keen on the idea of a third series and, given its warm reception in America, the star thinks his complex copper might even make it to the big screen."

We've long wondered WTF happened to the George Lucas-produced Tuskegee Airmen actioner, Red Tails; very little news has surfaced since last year's rumor that Lucas was unhappy with what had been done with the film at that point, and had essentially taking it over from director Anthony Hemingway and writer John Ridley. Although, Lucas' people denied those rumors.

Team Behind "Scary Movie," "Epic Movie," etc To Spoof "Avatar" Next ("Nothing Is Off Limits")

"With a domestic box office of nearly 700 million dollars and an overseas haul of over 2 billion, it was only a matter time before this behemoth got a good ribbing. And what could possibly be riper for satire? You got half naked blue people plugging their hair into strange flying horses so they can read their thoughts! And nothing in this mega blockbuster is off limits, from its overly simplified message of “big corporations = bad; tree hugging environmentalist = good,” to the broadly drawn characters like the buffed out Colonel who’s in a perpetual ‘roid rage to the very colorful, glowing and… come on, totally stony world of Pandora. And just like “Avatar” our movie will be in eye popping 3-D - making it the very first spoof movie ever in this format."
