May 18-30, The Museum of Modern Art will present the first comprehensive U.S. retrospective of the works of filmmaker Euzhan Palcy, presenting nine feature films, including four New York premieres, in The Roy and Niuta Titus Theaters.

"Master Harold and the Boys" with Ving Rhames Finally Gets Release

In case you haven't had your fill of seeing the bond between black servants and their white employers on screen, Master Harold... and the Boys, starring Ving Rhames, will see its release in theaters this May, followed by a home video run beginning July 5th.

This Thursday, April 28th, ActNow Foundation presents a collection of dramatic short films at Brooklyn's South Oxford Space. The program, entitled "Life on the Edge," is presented by ANF Short Film Collective, which screens short films quarterly by emerging black filmmakers.

Fast Five hasn't even been released yet, but Universal has already hired a screenwriter, Chris Morgan, to pen the screenplay for Fast Six (he also wrote the screenplays for the 3rd, 4th and 5th installments of the franchise).

Tomorrow evening, Harlem Stage on Screen presents the world premiere of Thomas Allen Harris' new documentary film, Marriage Equality: Byron Rushing and the Fight for Fairness at Aaron Davis Hall in Harlem. The film tells the story of State Representative Byron Rushing, a straight LGBT civil rights ally, who fought successfully for same-sex marriage in Massachusetts. The documentary provides an in depth look at the issue of Marriage Equality from the perspective of communities of color.

Despite not living up to box-office expectations this weekend, Tyler Perry keeps on truckin'! On his recent appearance to promote Madea's Big Happy Family on the Conan show with Conan O'brien, he announced his latest tv project in the works titled For Better or Worse. It's based on his blockbuster film Why Did I Get Married? and is currently shooting now.

Deadline just reported that Elvis Mitchell has been fired as Movieline.com's Chief Film Critic, after just over 3 months on the job. Mitchell was hired as Movieline's Chief Film Critic on January 12th of this year.
