We kicked things off with a very "heated," but insightful conversation with Ashley Akunna, the creator of the petition against Thandie Newton's casting for the film adaptation of the popular novel Half Of A Yellow Sun. She explained her reasonings for developing the petition as well as informed us about the filmmakers very revealing response to it. Take a listen and tell us, do you think she's correct? We had an AWESOME podcast return yesterday! The S&A crew (Tambay, Sergio, Monique, Emmanuel, Vanessa and Cynthia) covered the movie Red Tails as well as Spike Lee and his latest flick Red Hook Summer. However, the subject generating some "heated" debate was the casting controversy surrounding the film adaptation of Half Of A Yellow Sun proving we (the S&A crew) don't always agree on everything.

The S&A live podcast show returns from break Sunday at 3:00pm/est and we plan to bring it back with a BANG! For starters, our format will be less "formal" so be prepared to expect the unexpected. In addition, we'll integrate more of your comments in our conversations. We've been reading ALL of them and it's obvious you guys have a lot to say...that's a good thing! Let's face it, we all love black cinema and should talk about it a lot more. In fact, we really anticipate more of you joining us this season...the more the merrier!
