Speaking of Clifton Powell, whom I just wrote a post about starring in Psalm 23rd: Redemption, he also stars in The House of Malik, set for release December 1, 2011. The film, a coming of age tale about a New Jersey trumpet prodigy, is written and directed by Jesse James Jackson Jr. and produced by Jersey Style Films Inc. Along with Powell, the film also stars Sean Taylor, Xiaofei Wang, Thomas C. Bartley, Jerry Ross and Anthony Warren.

The film documentary, I'm Carolyn Parker: The Good, the Mad and the Beautiful will screen at this year's Toronto International Film Festival. I'm Carolyn Parker, directed by Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs, Beloved, Rachel Getting Married), depicts the inspiring personal journey of ex-civil rights activist Carolyn Parker, as she returns to her community's flood devastation after hurricane Katrina and struggles to rebuild her New Orleans home.

It's a British film called SKET and is described as a "girl gang retribution thriller," and stars some of the UK's young black talent, like Ashley Walters, Richie Campbell, Adelayo Adedayo, and Riann Steele.

King's Faith, currently in production, is directed by Nicholas DiBella and produced by Mark Costello and Marc Wax. The film will star Lynn Whitfield , James McDaniel (NYPD Blue) and Crawford Wilson. The film is set to be released sometime next year.

Preview of an intriguing upcoming documentary produced and directed by Naimah Fuller titled Home - The Documentary Movie; the feature film chronicles the migration experience of African Americans, reversing historical trends and relocating back to the south in the 21st century, thanks in part to rising costs of living up north. Further, as Fuller states, "The poignant question the documentary begs: Are blacks relocating into the South as a consequence of an insidious urban renewal policy called "gentrification", or is it the manifestation of a shared ethos, a spiritual calling to African Americans to return to their southern roots?"
