I had no idea Chandra Wilson had previously directed episodes of ABC's hit Shonda Rhimes drama Grey's Anatomy. Did you? Then again, I'm maybe in the minority when I say that I never really got into the show. I tried, but didn't really hook me.

Fans of American Idol, and The Voice will be familiar with Frenchie Davis - the semi-finalist on the 2nd season of Idol who was disqualified after topless photos of her, taken earlier in her career, turned up. Don't cry for the 32-year old however, because, by all accounts, Ms Davis has done fairly well for herself since then - appearing in the Broadway musical Rent, cast in the role of Effie in a West Coast-touring production of Dreamgirls, starred in the role of Mahalia Jackson in the Hartford Stage production of Mahalia: A Gospel Musical, and, most recently, was a Top 8 semi-finalist on the first season of The Voice.

"The music is definitely heroic. We actually used a 70-piece orchestra with a 40-piece choir. Then, underneath all of that, I have a lot of African and ethnic percussion grooves that I created here at my home studio. I wanted to service the movie in a way that made it grand and big. But at the same time, I didn't want to lose the whole notion of who these guys were and where they came from. So I used the ethnic percussion as a subtle kind of flavor. I didn't want to go too over the top with it, like blues guitars and such. That kind of thing has been done before."

UPDATE 7/29/11: You can thank me later for staying on top of this, because I know you all are heavily invested in this project, and I can't disappoint. So... adding to what I posted yesterday, the woman of the hour, Ms Amber Rose, teased us with another Tweet about the project (yes, I started following her on Twitter now, after she dropped yesterday's news. Somebody's gotta do the hard work, right). This time, she mentioned the name of the character she's playing, as well as who her co-stars are.
