The 53-minute documentary We Are Not Ghosts will premiere Tuesday, April 17th, at the Langston Hughes African American Film Festival. The doc, helmed by Melissa York and Mark Dworkin, deals with citizens efforts to revitalize Detroit after its economic hit to the auto industry.

The 55th San Francisco International Film Festival unveiled its lineup earlier today to reveal the following films profiled in S&A: 2011 SXSW Jury Award winner Gimme The Loot, the French comedy The Untouchables, The Double Steps (which I reviewed HERE), the Sheldon Candis drama LUV, the French/German drama Sleeping Sickness, and Andrea Arnold's Wuthering Heights.

The feature length documentary Flex is Kings, helmed by Deidre Schoo and Michael Beach Nichols, is currently funding via Kickstarter with 20 days to go. Flex is Kings centers around the underground street dance culture called "Flexing," set in an impoverished and crime-ridden area in Brooklyn.

This is the first time hearing of this project. Meeting Evil, directed by Chris Fisher and adapted from the Thomas Berger noir-thriller novel by the same name. The film stars Samuel L. Jackson as a mysterious stranger named Richie, who takes a family man, played by Luke Wilson, on a "murder-fueled ride."

Directed by L.A. performer and filmmaker Wu Tsang, the documentary Wildness will premiere this weekend at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin. Wildness revolves around the nightly performers and entertainment of Silver Bar in L.A., patronized by the Latin/LGBT communities since 1963. The 75-min doc screened at MOMA in NYC last month.
