A day after Wolfe Releasing acquired distribution rights to the indie drama she co-stars in with Wendell Pierce, Four, Aja Naomi King has joined the cast of the Amazon Studios comedy pilot, The Onion Presents: The News, written by The Onion’s Will Graham and Dan Mirk, and directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson.

Joining Issa Rae are Deion Sanders, AJ Johnson, DeRay Davis, and Cheryl Jackson, all producing content for the newly-formed Alright TV - a faith/family-friendly YouTube channel created by Robert Johnson and Tracey E. Edmonds (who's running it), in an agreement with YouTube.

First of all, I must give all credit to architecture and cultural critic, photographer and executive director for the Chicago Central Area Committee, Lee Bey, who wrote on his NPR radio/WBEZ-FM Chicago blog today about the short-lived TV series, Bird of the Iron Feather, which is considered to be the first black soap opera ever on television.

The sixth annual BET Honors special, hosted by Gabrielle Union, which was broadcast on Monday night, and will be repeated a few more times this week and next, did very well for the network.

The original series is one of TV One's most watched reality series; and so I guess it was a no-brainer that the network would create a spin-off to R&B Divas (which was renewed for a second season), titled R&B Divas: LA, which will follow the lives and careers of five Los Angeles based R&B performers.

Andre Braugher has signed up to play a police captain in Fox’s cop-comedy pilot, joining Terry Crews and Andy Samberg in the still-untitled work from Mike Schur/Dan Goor, to be directed by the co-directors of 21 Jump Street (the movie) - Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
