Spike TV Developing Miniseries On Tutankhamun - Youngest Pharaoh To Rule Ancient Egypt

Spike TV announced this afternoon that the network has optioned a limited event series script that "takes an illuminating, new look" at the story of Tutankhamun (aka King Tut, 1333 to 1323 BC), the youngest Pharaoh to rule Ancient Egypt.

Maybe just in time for the world premiere of Andre Benjamin's biopic All Is By My Side, at TIFF this month, a new two-hour documentary on the life of Jimi Hendrix, titled Jimi Hendrix: Hear My Train A Comin, will be released directly to the home video market on November 5, courtesy of Sony's Legacy brand. PBS will also broadcast the documentary as part of its American Masters series on the same day that the DVD version is released.

Sky (UK) has announced 4 brand new dramas to be filmed in the coming months, reflecting the broadcast service's drive to bring more high-quality, exclusive programming to its customers. The new commissions are part of Sky’s commitment to invest £600 million a year (almost $1 billion) in home-grown programming by 2014, an increase of 50% over three years, says the press release.

'Sleepy Hollow' Opens Strong For FOX - Its Highest-Rated Fall Drama Premiere In 6 Years

I'm still waiting for the official press release from FOX, but, courtesy of Nielsen ratings, I can tell you that the network took home the adults 18-49 crown last night (Monday) with the return of Bones (7.526 million viewers), followed by the much-anticipated debut of Sleepy Hollow, the Nicole Beharie/Orlando Jones suspense-drama, which drew an astounding 10.046 million viewers, and a 3.4 rating, making it the #1 primetime drama last night in the adults 18-49 demo, as well as FOX's highest rated fall drama premiere in 6 years, and on any broadcast network in one year, knocking off NBC's Revolution from that slot.

Well, I watched all of the first week's episodes, as I said I would in last week Tuesday's post in which I shared my reactions to the show's premiere episode. In short, I wasn't hooked. Read that post HERE.And I'm sorry to say that, 4 more shows later, I'm still not hooked. It's a long way from being must-see TV for me, and I'm not sure if that's going to change anytime soon, unless there's a radical shift.
