Amongst the the new scripted original series announced in BET's next season lineup last week was a comedy titled Second Generation Wayans, based on the lives of the members of the next generation of the Wayans family.

However, as it turns out, being a Wayans isn’t all fun and games. Viewers see the good, the funny and the ugly as the young trio emerges from the long shadows of their uncles to carve out their own paths to stardom in Hollywood.

The new series already has Craig Wayans, Damien Dante Wayans, and George O. Gore II in its cast; and, as of this morning, we can add The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air alum Tatyana Ali to that list.

Ms Ali will play a character named Maya, described as "Damien’s quick-witted personal assistant who struggles to keep the guys in line."

Practically a veteran of TV, Tatyana was last seen on the big screen in Corey Grant's ensemble dramedy Dysfunctional Friends; she also has a recurring role in the daytime soap The Young & The Restless, and also starred in the Martin Lawrence-produced TV One sitcom Love That Girl.

Wait, what? If they're going for a Curb Your Enthusiasm feel, why would they cast Tatyana Ali as a personal assistant, and not a child star-turned-struggling adult actress? They're missing all the Ashley Banks jokes. Counterintuitive!

Tatyana Ali is so boring and, as Akimbo said, her acting is weak. Blah this show.

I'm surprised Will Smith hasn't extended a role to Tatyana Ali in his many projects.

Maybe she used up those favors on her music career?

A show about their lives? Unless they take it to extreme, Curb Your Enthusiasm cum It's Always Sunny places, the premise sounds weak and too dependent upon the cast. I mean, Damien is funny, but Craig never impressed in his appearances on My Wife and Kids, George is okay, and Tatayana? Well she's not as big a disappointment as Keshia Knight Pulliam, but the acting- especially comedy- is weak. Not too late to change the concept!
