The STARZ Original drama Power is all set for an eight hour-long episode first season, premiering later this year (exact date to be announced later).

Set in modern day New York, the series is being filmed in and around the city’s five boroughs, making it a major character throughout the season.

He wants to build an empire, turn the club into a Fortune 500 business, but there's just one problem: he is living a double life. When he is not in the club, he is the kingpin of the most lucrative drug network in New York for a very high-level clientele. His marriage, family and business all become unknowingly threatened as he is tempted to leave his criminal life behind and become the rags-to-riches businessman he wants to be most of all.

The cast is led by Omari Hardwick who is joined by Naturi Naughton as Tasha St. Patrick, wife, confidant and willing accomplice to James; Joseph Sikora as Tommy Egan, childhood best friend and business partner to “Ghost” and Lela Loren plays Angela Valdes, an old flame of James’s who unexpectedly reenters his life.

The series is created by Courtney Kemp Agboh (The Good Wife), who will serve as executive producer and show-runner. Mark Canton, Randall Emmett, and David Knoller also serve as executive producers. The series is being produced in association with CBS Television Studios.

Starz proved itself in the comedy department with Party Down. Then started to show promise as growing premium cable network for low budget quality scripted originals with Spartacus. They branch into a period crime drama with Magic City and a Shakeperian political thriller with Boss. Both of which struggled creatively to find their own identity in the cable's anti hero age. Davinci demons has also turned out mediocre along with the import The White Queen. So with most of th credibility that Spartacus gave Starz gone I have little faith in their scrpted originals will ever be potentially good anymore. The only exception is the talent behind camera is the only reason to be optimistic about their future endeavors.

You had me at "Starring Omari Hardwick, Created By 50 Cent."

I'm excited for the show. Sounds like, if well directed and well written (I have my fingers crossed) it could be something like The Wire. Which I don't think the STARZ channel has ever had. So, this is big!

Sounds like you're easily pleased, Shanay-nay. My kinda gal! You'd best not run into ME on payday!

You can have the slickest package in town, but if you don't have the story on the page you got the same tired-ass straight-to-dvd story. Too much producing, not enough writing, it seems, these days. No worries, though. Everybody involved will make good money that first season.
