As we already know, Samuel L. Jackson and Angela Bassett will soon star as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the mysterious Camae respectively, in the Broadway production of the new play, The Mountaintop, by Katori Hall, directed by Tony Award-nominee Kenny Leon (Fences, A Raisin in the Sun).

The Mountaintop will begin performances on September 22, 2011, at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre (242 West 45th Street), with an official opening on Thursday, October 13, 2011.

I guess we could call this our second look at the production, which you can guarantee I'll be seeing when it opens.

@ Kunie! I don't think it will raise prices! The average ticket prices are$125-$500! It's been like that the pass couple of years! So I don't think the prices will go higher for this production plus there are only "2" people to pay! J

I don't think it's anything wrong with having good business sense. Let's not forget the playwright is a black woman, reason enough for me to go. The plus is seeing Angela Bassett and Sam Jackson live onstage. This is a winner all around.

@ Kunie-That's why they are involved . . . this casting is pure business. If it was about something the play they would have cast it differently . . . as written.

This really sounds like an interesting project. I'd love to see it.

My only worry is that the big names involved will force ticket prices through the roof.
