As previously announced back in March...
Thandie Newton was in negotiations to star in a new DirecTV cop drama series titled Rogue, as an undercover cop, who in a personal vendetta, comes face to face with a high-profile gangster, after her son is killed in a drive-by shooting.
Scratch the "in negotiations" part of this because DirecTV made it official today; the series is a go, with Thandie definitely onboard as its star.
DirecTV said in a press release that the series would focus on Ms. Newton’s character, described further as a "morally and emotionally conflicted cop named Grace, who is wrestling with the possibility that she may have contributed to the death of her son while she conducts an illicit affair with a high-ranking criminal who may have also been involved."
So we get a little more info on the character and plot there.
Rogue, which will be satellite television provider DirecTV's first original series, is scheduled to start production in August, and will make its debut in the summer of 2013.
Thandie gets to carry a TV series; let's see how that works out.
