Whitney Houston

Remember back in 1992 when it seemed that Whitney Houston was the biggest phenomenon on the planet? Not only did she have hit song after hit song after hit album, but she also starred in her first film, The Bodyguard, with the then equally big time Kevin Costner, and the result was a monster box office hit that spawned two No.1 hit songs.

Well, needless to say (and not to recount the gory details) Whitney never quite reached the heights that everyone was expecting her to reach in music or films. but at least you can relive her glory days when Warners Home Entertainment, just in time for the film's 20th anniversary, will finally release, on blu-ray DVD, The Bodyguard, on April 10, 2012. No word yet as to any extra features but, no doubt, there are certain to be some.

The film about a fragile pop singer who falls in love with the ex-Secret Service agent hired to protect her from an crazed fan, was a project almost decade in development (at one time supposed to star Diana Ross) until Houston and Costner came on board.

Of course there are currently plans for a remake. No word yet as to who will star, but let me take a guess who they want to play the singer? And I'll bet you can too..unfortunately.
