Last night's third season finale of AMC's The Walking Dead scored its biggest audience ever in the history of the show.
The finale, which was directed by Ernest Dickerson (who also directed the season's opening episode, the series' previous biggest audience getter) pulled in 12.4 million viewers.
The network also said that the finale was No 1 in the 18-49 year old demographic, beating out NBC, CBS and ABC for the night.
Charlie Collier, the president of AMC issued the statement in wake of the news: "Two words: Grateful. Dead. The Walking Dead has become a pop-culture phenomenon, entertaining millions of passionate viewers and obliterating traditional lines between cable and broadcast television."
Meanwhile NBC, CBS and ABC are sweating bullets trying to figure out how to beat this thing.
