Here's trailer number 2 for Tina Gordon Chism's We The Peeples - now titled Tyler Perry Presents Peeples (or just Peeples) - which stars Craig RobinsonDavid Alan GrierKerry WashingtonS. Epatha Merkerson, Melvin Van PeeblesDiahann Carroll, and Kali Hawk.

Lionsgate set the release date for May 10, 2013.

Produced by Tyler Perry, Stephanie Allain (also director of the Los Angeles Film Festival) and Paul Hall, the film centers on Robinson's character, a young man enduring the weekend from hell when he surprises his girlfriend by showing up to meet her parents.

The full synopsis for Peeples reads:

Wade Walker is eager to propose to his girlfriend, Grace Peeples. But after a year of living together, the beautiful, successful Grace is still cagey about introducing average guy Wade to her ambitious, upper crust family. So when Grace leaves for an annual reunion at her parents’ swanky Sag Harbor compound, Wade decides to crash the gathering, charm his soon-to-be in-laws and slip a ring on Grace’s finger. However Wade's plans go hilariously awry when he meets the high-powered, seemingly picture-perfect family who’ll do whatever it takes to keep up appearances. Wade soon finds himself caught in a web of white lies and comic dysfunction, and realizes that his only hope of ever marrying Grace means a take-no-prisoners face-off with Judge Peeples, Grace’s disapproving dad who won’t accept anything less than the very best for his favorite daughter.

Chism, who both wrote and directed the film, makes her feature directorial debut with this movie.

This is a much funnier trailer than the first one they put out. Peeples really does look like a fun time at the movies. For once nothing heavy and dramatic. Just light and funny without the buffoonery of Madea and the scenery is absolutely beautiful! And a few newbies and older faces in the cast we don't see much of --Diahann Caroll and S. Epatha Merkerson! These two wouldn't just do any low-quality film, especially Miss Caroll! So I'm thinking Peeples might be good. I just caught too that it was NOT written by Tyler Perry just produced. That's a plus because he is a TERRIBLE writer! Glad he's giving other film makers a chance! Me and my family will definitely be going to see this! I can't wait to see it!

I agree-i usually avoid romcoms like the plague but this looks very cute and funny. And you're right--Carroll and Merkerson in the same movie?! And Grier is a damn FOOL-he always cracks me up.

I love Kerry Washington to death, but there is no way in hell that I could withstand watching her as Craig Robinson's love interest. So dang tired of these stories where the dumpy, average looking man snags the hot girl. Us ladies want something nice to look at too. Sheesh.

@ Accidental Visitor: Blair Underwood would have made more sense in this role than Craig Robinson does.

    Really, Saadiyah? Wow.

If it's good enough for the white actresses it is good enough for Kerry Washington too. :D

Seriously though at least it was the intent all along (in the plot) for an average dude to be dating a woman out of his league. Some of these other modern day comedies don't need to grab a beautiful actress to be paired alongside with a guys like Adam Sandler or any other male SNL alum when a more plain looking woman (who happen to have good comic timing) will do.

Considering the concept of this film what actor would you have chosen other than Craig Robinson? I mean at least it isn't some Chris Rock romantic comedy in which we are supposed to strain belief in accepting it is perfectly nagtural for Rock to be the type of guy who could attract both Kerry Washington and Gina Torres.
