Trailer For Eddie Murphy's Long-Buried "A Thousand Words" Surfaces... How Timely

Eddie Oscar

Well look what the cat dragged in... Originally scheduled to be released in January, Paramount later pushed the release date for A Thousand Words to March 23rd instead.

As I noted in a previous post, this shift may have been a calculated one by Paramount, as that announcement came after it was made public that the film's star Eddie Murphy would host the Academy Awards, with the hope being that Eddie would be a hit as Oscar host on February 27th, which would then translate to increased interest in and awareness of the film when it's released about 3 weeks later.

Well... given all that's happened in the last 24 hours (Eddie's exit as host of the Oscars), I wonder if Paramount might shift the film's release date again; or maybe just scratch the release and shuffle this baby straight to home video/VOD.

*Shrug* I don't give a damn at this point. The film has been sitting in limbo for so long that any interest I have in actually seeing it has long faded.

And this trailer doesn't do much to change that...

I actually thought it was kinda funny. I'd see it. It seems just as good if not better than some comdies that have come out lately.

He backed out of hosting the Oscars, he didn't kill somebody. Look at some of the people who've been given second chances: Lindsay Lohan (well more than one LOL), Michael Vick etc. When his career soured at least he disappeared for a couple years to re-group. I wish some other stars would do that. He deserves the same chances to revive his career as anyone else.

This actually looks like the type of broad comedy that tends to be a hit. They seem to be hitting the right notes. I even chuckled at it. The producers probably should worry about the scent of failure that seems to be lurking around Eddie. It's a shame because he's had an extremely successful career by anyone's standards. People with much worst career stalls have had comebacks though.

the brother has always made me laugh and will continue to do so for many years; - he has a stage presence which is likable and exudes a comedic confidence!

Do you all think Norbitt really set Eddie back and has him whiteballed by h wood? This trailor is cute but why did the studio sit on it so long this is the same guy that was alleedgely with a tranny dude but he still wad able to kick ass and even star on famy friendly movies... He really was the star of dreamgirls and when he didnt get the golden stat he walked out on a white man and oh boy.. I'm not into conspiracy theories but this is one of the most bankable stars of the times.

I don't think it's that bad, actually looks like it might be better than a few of his other movies. Good luck Eddie damn the haters.

The trailer looks fine to me. Sounds like a lot of haters hating on Eddie Murphy. If this movie comes I'll go and watch it.
