About That Popular 'Black Films Don't Sell ...Trailer Watch: Rom-Com "A Little Bit of Heaven" (Whoopi Goldberg, Romany Malco Co-Star)
Think Like A Man's Malco, whom I just chatted with - an interview which should be up in a couple of days- plays a New Orleans bar owner and neighbor/confidant to Kate Hudson's character. Whoopi Goldberg plays a heavenly being who grants Hudson's character three wishes while Hudson's character is under the effects of anesthesia.
Here's the full synopsis:
A LITTLE BIT OF HEAVEN is a love story set in New Orleans about an irreverent young woman who unexpectedly falls in love with her doctor. Marley Corbett (Kate Hudson) is young, beautiful, and wildly funny, but she's afraid of opening herself up to true love and commitment. Though she uses her humor to prevent matters from getting serious, a life-changing visit to her doctor (Gael Garcia Bernal) sends both of them on an eye-opening adventure of mutual discovery, leading to revelations neither thought possible.

Lame. I'm sad that wonderful actors of color (e.g. Gael Garcia Bernal, Romany Malco, and Whoopi Goldberg) have to take roles in such lame and un-challenging films just to get some exposure. Smh.
