TV One has announced via press release that, after just over 1 year (she assumed the role in May 2011), CEO Wonya Lucas will vacate that position at the end of the month, and will be immediately replaced by Alfred Liggins, president and CEO of Radio One, TV One's parent company.

Lucas became CEO of the African-American targeted network in May 2011.

Statements released from both Lucas and Liggins suggest an amicable split. No reasons were given.

By all accounts, TV One's new programming, under Lucas' watch, has been much appreciated by audiences - especially its docu-series lineup, which includes Unsung, Life After, and Find Our Missing; it's also ventured into original scripted sitcoms with The Ricky Smiley Show, whose debut delivered the highest rated original series premiere in TV One's history, setting a record.

By the way, Comcast also owns a huge stake in TV One.

Stay tuned...

    Personal/family issues, perhaps. It happens.

As Tambay said, the network is doing well, so that's not the issue.

Sad to see the sista go especially since she's been doing such a great job. But I am wondering if they are doing well enough to host a 30 minute straight news segment every evening? Black News and not pundits, that would be fabulous!
