OMG I'm absolutely shocked! I didn't at all see this coming AT ALL!

That's sarcasm for those who sometimes have trouble readily identifying it :)

Tyler Perry's Alex Cross, which Summit is releasing on October 26th this year, has been given a PG13 rating by the MPAA for "violence including disturbing images, sexual content, language, drug references, and nudity," according to Box Office Mojo.

Oh shit... nudity in a Tyler Perry movie? Sexual content? Nice!

More sarcasm...

Seriously though, I guess I'm just out of touch, but when did nudity and sexual content become OK for the MPAA's PG13 rating? I'm trying to think of a PG13 movie in which there was nudity of any kind. Help me out...

I just hope they don't title the film Tyler Perry's Alex Cross.

As I've said before, despite all the jokes, I'm genuinely curious about this flick; I have absolutely zero idea of what to expect from Tyler Perry in his first action/thriller hero role; how will audiences receive him? Who knows. We'll find out soon enough; I expect a trailer to drop any day now, even if it's just a teaser. We'll get some idea shortly.

In the meantime, we'll just have to be content with this behind-the-scenes footage we posted last fall:

Just hoping the sexual content and nudity doesn't involve title character.

Oh Gawd, no. Can't stand his films or his acting! Ugh.

Is it wrong that I like Tyler Perry IN movies? I just do. I don't love Tyler Perry movies, per se, but he did a great job with Good Deeds. If he hadn't played the lead, I wouldn't have even known it was a TP film...until the last 3 minutes. Nor do I love action/thrillers, but I'm going to see this opening weekend, I'm sure. Onward and PLEASE upward, Tyler Perry. I'm rooting for him.

This movie is gonna suck anyone. Really Tyler Perry as Alex Cross.... There's gonna be laughs at the trailer.

The first one was rated R and that one had no nudity. It was actually a good film and made 74 million off a 28 million budget. I wonder what this one will make?

I AM TOTALLY elated about this production!!!! Having read,"I Alex Cross",not once, but twice. The pg13 rating is very appropriate. Thank you Tyler and James. In my opinion, this will be a box office explosive. Wow, àwesome indeed. Addie

It was obvious that with Perry in it they were aiming for a chickenshit PG-13 rating instead of a R rating.

In the name of journalism, you REALLY hate Tyler Perry. Although you keep writing about him. CONSTANTLY!!!. TP is always doing something in the industry for you to write about hmmmm.

  • Akimbo | March 21, 2012 9:21 PM

Yes, let's please stop talking about this hack. Or, if you must, just give us the bullet points on a monthly basis. The MPAA rating for the movie we already knew (12 times over) that he was doing is such a non-story.

  • illthoughts | March 21, 2012 2:44 PMReply

I respect the man's hustle. I really do but he is a snoozer as an actor. Women in my circle who saw GOOD DEEDS all said the same things and that was the movie would've been better with another actor playing the lead role. The next thing was that they didn't see him as a sex symbol at all. I hope this movie fails just to teach Holly white that you can't go with the most popular person and that talent still accounts for something. Sorry TP, stay in your lane.

Norbit was PG-13 with nudity as well as a lot of other movies like the Fifth Element, Something's Gotta Give, THE BLUE LAGOON, Titanic, The House Bunny, Cider House Rules, and so on

  • Nerissa | March 21, 2012 2:29 PMReply

I don't get the PG-13 rating for a movie like that. The book does carry a lot of nudity, etc. and I couldn't see the film telling the story any less graphic. Perry as Alex Cross? Surprise me.

    I'm looking forward to it!
