UK TV News: Rhashan Stone, Pippa Bennett-Warner Land Lead Roles In Sky1′s 'The Smoke'

Some UK TV casting news...

Rhashan Stone and Pippa Bennett-Warner have both joined the cast of Sky1′s upcoming firefighter drama The Smoke as a series regulars.

Information courtesy of the UK's TV Wise, The Smoke was created by Lucy Kirkwood, and follows a family of firemen and women who, no matter what, always have each other to fall back on. But being a hero isn’t easy, especially in a world that regularly disregards them, and it certainly doesn’t pay. Many crew members are forced to hold down other jobs on the side, taking some of them into the city’s after dark world. The stakes are high but, in The Smoke, it’s the very lives and souls of the White Watch crew that are at risk.

Rhashan Stone will play a member of the firefighters who are central to the series while Pippa Bennett-Warner will play the female lead, and one of the few female firefighters on staff.

Also currently cast as one of the leads is Jamie Bamber from Battlestar Galactica.

Sky 1 has ordered 8 episodes for the show’s first season, with Kudos Film & TV producing. Anne Mensah, Jane Featherstone and Noelle Morris will exec produce.

Sky 1 is the same UK network that was home to the 12-episode Sinbad series we've been following since last year, and which is finally set to make its USA debut in a few months. So The Smoke could also very well travel west.
