Director Abdoulaye Dao's Une Femme Pas Comme Les Autres (An Uncommon Woman) is a film that Tambay first told us about last summer. You can see it this week when it's screened at the 15th Annual Festival of Films In French, being held at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
As Tambay told us then, "Directed by Abdoulaye Dao, and featuring some of the best actors in Burkina Faso, the 101 min feature film, titled An Uncommon Woman, centers on Mina, a very successful business woman who, much to her current husband's chagrin, decides to take a second husband in an environment where polyandry is taboo, but not-so the other way around."
An Uncommon Woman will be shown on Feb. 5 @ 3PM, and on Feb. 11 @ 7PM. If you happen to be in the Milwaukee area, you may want to take advantage of this screening. Especially since NYC-based ArtMattan Productions, which owns distibution right on the film, is currently selling the dvd of An Uncommon Woman for a whopping $245. That's no typo-- two, four, five.
The 15th Annual Festival of Films in French at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Feb. 3-12, celebrates the diversity and global reach of French-language cinema. All films are in French and other languages with English subtitles, and are shown in the UWM Union Theatre, 2200 E. Kenwood Blvd. All films are free and open to the public.
