The 4th Annual Silicon Valley African Film Festival will take place from Friday, October 11 through Sunday, October 13presented by the Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) in Mountain View, CA.

Presented by Oriki Theater in Mountain View, in partnership with African Diaspora Network and CSMA, and themed “Africa Through African Lens”, the annual showcase will feature a mix of feature films, shorts, and animations - 30 films from 15 African countries - from both seasoned and emerging African filmmakers, with its mission being to promote an understanding and appreciation of Africa and Africans through moving images.

This year’s Centerpiece Film is the controversial South African thriller Of Good Report, directed by Jahmil X.T. Qubeka, which will be making its USA premiere.

The Opening Night Feature Film will be Mahamat-Saleh Haroun's latest, GriGris, the 2013 Cannes Vulcan Award-winning film from Chad.

Other notable selections include: the U.S. premiere of Children's Republic (starring Danny Glover) from Guinea Bissau, Jean Pierre Bekolo's Le President from Cameroon, the world premiere of Dreamwalker from Nigeria, and more.

"I am excited about how our festival has grown, both in the level of community support and the quality of films,” said Chike C. Nwoffiah, Festival Director of the Silicon Valley African Film Festival. “The films of SVAFF 2013 will engage, inspire, provoke and challenge the audience. The entire festival program has been designed so attendees can have a full experience where they can see, feel, and be touched by Africa."

A special feature of the 2013 SVAFF is the “African Women in Technology” Forum on Saturday, October 12. The Forum, presented in partnership with the African Diaspora Network and the Institute of International Education, will feature an illuminating conversation with Africa's next generation of women leaders in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, visiting from 16 countries.

“CSMA is thrilled to host the 4th Annual Silicon Valley African Film Festival,” said Vickie Scott Grove, Executive Director of CSMA. “As part of our commitment to provide arts for all, we are dedicated to making a wide variety of high-quality cultural experiences available for audiences of all ages and backgrounds."
