So let me see if I got this straight, and anyone who's addicted to reality shows I'm sure will correct me.

So Evelyn Lozada is a cast member of the popular VH-1 reality show Basketball Wives; The show that everyone loves to say how much they hate, because of how it degrades black women, yet secretly watch it every week religously. And from what I understand, Ms. Lozada is the one who everyone hates most on the show.

Chad Johnson, better known as Chad Ochocinco ("85"), is a brash, arrogant and full of himself NFL player, who was set to play this season for the Miami Dolphins, and who also has had a few reality shows of his own.

Their relationship (Chad and Evelyn's) was chronicled on Basketball Wives, and they got married last month.

So VH-1, seeing a good thing, and a big ratings puller to boot, decided to give them their own reality show Ev & Chad, which was set to premiere next month, on Sept. 3.

Well not anymore...

VH-1 announced today that they are pulling the show off the air, even before its premiere, after Ochocinco was arrested this past Saturday night for physically assulting Lozada, during a domestic dispute.

The network released the following statement: "Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, VH1 is pulling the series Ev and Ocho from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it."

And if things weren't bad enough, the Dolphins also announced that, as of today, they were cutting Ochocinco from the team.

Was anyone planning to watch this show anyway?

UPDATE: It's now being reported that Ms Lozada this week will file papers for divorce in a Miami court after only six weeks of marriage. For Mr. 85 when it rains it pours

I had no plans to watch this show anyway....based on the comments on the blogs from fans of these two people, the whole marriage was thought to be one huge publicity stunt.

people say they hate Evelyn but there's got to be a reason VH1 decide to give them a show starring Evelyn. so take the "we hate Evelyn" crowed with a grain of salt.

Gee, I don't know... from the words at the top of the page maybe? Cinema of the African Diaspora...

Then call it blacks in media... just prefer to read about cinema than stupid ass reality shows with dumb ass atheletes, their women and their weave drama. The whole dumb-down effect...

Where in the hell did you get that idea?

He should have paid one of his other women to start a fight with her and pull her weave off with the cameras rolling. That wouldn't have offended VH-1's delicate sensibilities.

I don't know how people watch reality TV in general. The few times I've caught some random show, I feel like I'm wasting my life watching something utterly mundane. Like I'm suddenly the biggest lame who wants to live vicariously through some loser. I have too much pride for that sh*t lol

Wow. Talk about throwing it all away with both hands???

There was one episode that the featured them also exclusively and it was boring as hell. I think by episode 3 the novelty would have worn off.
