VH1 has announced that they're planning to get into the TV movie business with a series of bio-pics about popular pop and hip-hop groups and musicians. The first one off the block will be a TV movie about the music, career, private conflicts, and personal lives of the popular 1990's trio TLC.

Made up of Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, and Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, who was tragically killed in a car accident while on a spiritual retreat in Honduras in April 2002, the group sold tens of millions of albums worldwide and is still considered to be one of the most successful female singing groups in history.

The two living members of the group, T-Boz and Chilli, are on board as consultants and executive producers for the film, which will be written by Kate Lanier - who wrote the screenplays for What’s Love Got To Do With It, Beauty Shop, and Set It Off. In fact, it was Lanier's previous experience on those projects that gave her the edge in being chosen for this one.

According to Chilli:

“The reality of this brings me to tears because I am seeing one of my dreams come to life. I always felt our story had to be told. What makes it even more amazing is having Kate Lanier on board. I remember watching ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ with Lisa, and I knew then whoever wrote that story had to write ours."

No word yet as to a director or if a casting search has begun.

I'm excited for the renowned super group TLC in landing a movie about their life, success and all that they have accomplished in the music industry! It has been 10 years since the tragic death of Lisa Left Eye Lopes, and the group is still striving to keep her legacy alive. I think it is wonderful that TLC is able to hit Big Screen to show the viewers they were more than a super group with fame and talent, but they were also thought of each other as sisters. I am glad I had an opportunity to meet Lisa’s family and to this day, I am in contact with them. The Lopes family is the most caring, loving and down to earth kind of people, who always put Lisa’s fans 1st. This makes me proud to be a constant fan of Lisa’s because her family knows how much she loved her fans.

Lisa was the type of person who put others before herself and who had a big heart. Lisa was the creative one, she designed all of TLC outfits, stage and came up with the group album titles, and she was very active in doing TLC project. The music industry really lost a legend at her best.

Are you insane? Keri Hilson got beat out by Denise Vasi for the role on Single Ladies. If she couldn't act better than that one-note, Stepford wife of an actress, what makes you believe she's good enough to get into character work as T-Boz?

I don't see a TLC movie really working, but okay. To be played by Lauren London, Naturi Naughton (in a wet & wavy wig), and...Keri Hilson?

Because this is not an agreement board. If you want to see people lavish praises on the idea, maybe check out a TLC fansite instead.

I dont see why you would even comment if you dont see the movie working... TLC are my idols! But okay, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

The story behind the who was one of the best girl groups out there at the in the 1990's. And to be truthful,"TLC" was the best of the best girls groups and ever then and now. To hear that a movie will be finally turn to a movie of the group is exactly a story that needs to be told. It's amazing what should have been a story book of success, but was the the totally opposite. "T-Boz and Chilli who are the only survives of the "TLC" group who will tell the story of the group, also with the writer Kate Lanier on board who was behind the hit movies "What's Love Got to Do With It" and Set it Off will write this fascinating account the group rise to the top sounds like it will be a good.
