Last week, CBS announced that its new Steven Spielberg futuristic thriller series Extant, starring Halle Berry, will debut on Wednesday, July 2, at 9/8c - Independence Day week.

This week, the network has released 2 teasers - emphasis on teasers, because neither gives you very much. Certainly no glimpse of Halle Berry in character. But that's why they're called teasers.

The series will center on a female astronaut trying to reconnect with her family, after she returns home after a year in space. Her experiences lead to events that ultimately change the course of human history.

Vague, but sounds like it could be epic, as only a Steven Spielberg series can be!

Of course Halle is playing the astronaut.

"There's only one Halle Berry and we are incredibly honored that she has chosen Extant to expand her illustrious career," Spielberg said. “As she does with everything she touches, she will bring a deep authenticity to her role and I very much look forward to working with her.”

Halle Berry added: "I'm always on the lookout for amazing roles and when you see material that contains this strong of auspices, nuance and complexity it compels me to run toward it no matter the medium. For five months a year I'll get to live with and play this incredibly intelligent and vulnerable woman, and for the remainder of the year I'll continue to look for other roles that move me as deeply as this one. I've found amazing partners in CBS's Nina Tassler and Les Moonves, and the incredible Steven Spielberg, along with his Amblin production team, whose vision and creativity in storytelling is unparalleled."

The script was penned by Mickey Fisher, who will executive produce alongside Spielberg, Greg WalkerBrooklyn WeaverJustin Falvey and Darryl Frank

Up next for Halle, Codeblack Films (a Lionsgate company) has resuscitated her Sybil-like tale, Frankie & Alice, for an April 42014 release. She's also set to reprise her role as Storm in the next X-Men movie - X-men: Days Of Future Past, which opens on May 23, 2014.

À important point i should make the series on in USA rather most the series are written by the gréât British writers and that is why the américains produce and have some good ratings

The British french and italiens make the best Films and TV series .The US does not évén have good writers the British and french also have the best actors and they hire actors of all races. However Madonna should have won an oscar for W.E in 2011. Europe is taking the film industry completely. Talent is not doing à movie with drugs à d alcohol and the while ameri am film industry needs to go to ré hab. Its really à shame when french good actors live in the us and only get à recurring role swat and revenge in 12 years time 2 job casting thats ridiculous The America seem very jealous of french actors because tauto is à gret actress yet the USA has not called her since pretty little dirty things
