Here's a much better look at The Weinstein Company release, MandelaLong Walk to Freedom, which stars Idris Elba as Nelson Mandela, and Naomie Harris as Winnie Mandela, in a film directed by Justin Chadwick, which highlights Mandela's early life, education and 27 years in prison.

South African stars Tony KgorogeRiaad Moosa, Zolani MkivaJamie Bartlett, Lindiwe MatshikizaDeon Lotz and Terry Pheto, round out the film's cast.

The Weinstein Company will open the film in the USA on November 29 - likely as one of its Oscar contenders.

    Spoken by a couple of well intentioned white guys. However, since I've seen the film, I was not shocked nor does the writer get a pass for his failures. Granted, it's a difficult challenge condensing a life story into a 2 1/2 film, but Steve McQueen did it on a grand scale. His film did not resemble a Lifetime Channel special event. "Long Walk Home", on the other hand, was a predictable bore fest.

    Again, I was not shocked nor surprised, this has been a continuing story. That is, the story of white men telling stories which features blacks of world history.
