A quick recap... Anthony Mackie is playing Falcon, alongside Chris Evans, in the sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger (titled Winter Soldier), which is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.

Stan Lee introduced Falcon in Captain America #117 (September 1969),calling him "the first African American superhero."

The character, Sam Wilson, is Harlem-based and had many street adventures with Cap in the 1970s comics, when he served as his partner. In current comics, Falcon is a key player in many of Cap's espionage adventures.

His superhero abilities include: an empathic link with his pet falcon, has the ability to see through the eyes of nearby birds, can fly, is skilled in martial artist, and is a gymnast.

Winter Soldier will center heavily on the apparent resurrection of Bucky Barnes, played in Captain America: The First Avenger by Sebastian Stan.

Mackie is certainly excited about the opportunity to play Falcon, and as noted in an interview he did with SuperheroHype.com last fall, when he shared that he was taking it all very seriously, because "he considers The Falcon to be an iconic role as Marvel's first real African American superhero."

By the way, Samuel L. Jackson is in this as well, reprising his role as Nick Fury.

Captain America: Winter Soldier opens April 4, 2014.

Dig the trailer overall. Can't wait until 4/4/14. Even though Anthony Mackie or Sam Jackson aren't the main character in this, hopefully this post will enlighten the skeptics out there who say "Black people don't do sci-fi", i.e. the Kevin Grevioux article and the 40 plus comments. If that was the true case, we wouldn't have our faces in movies like this, Iron Man, Thor, or even the likes of Star Wars or Star Trek.

People see what supports their essays.

There were Black people all over The Matrix.

Laurence Fishburne does quite a bit of scifi. So does Will Smith. Wesley Snipes does horror/action.

Maybe people see what supports their essays.

Only three posts for this, but 50 for MURDER SHE WROTE? Man, the traffic on this site this site needs to get younger. And maybe more male. This trailer is hot to death and Anthony Mackie and Falcon is dopiness. Also glad they went with the Ultimates version. This is one of the best casts in any film, let alone a Marvel movie.

Oh, boy. This is a movie my husband will drag me to, but I'll at least be happy to see Anthony Mackie.

Falcon has always been one of my favorites...

Very nice, they went with Falcon's "Ultimates" costume. Glad they are not shying away from Cap's displeasure with modern U.S. policy as well.
