Sheldon Candis' feature film debut, LUV, which stars Common and Michael Rainey Jr, will make its debut at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, in the dramatic competition section, and it's on my short list of films to see while I'm there, premiering at the mammoth Eccles Theater on Monday the 23rd.
It'll screen a total of 5 times during the 10-day festival, and according to Sundance, all 5 shows are going to be packed; currently, if you want to purchase tickets for any of the 5 screenings, you'll find yourself being added to a wait list.
The film's official synopsis reads:
An orphaned 11-year-old boy is forced to face the unpleasant truth about his beloved uncle during one harrowing day in the streets of Baltimore.
Dennis Haysbert, Danny Glover, and Charles S. Dutton also co-star.
EW has another clip from the film, this one featuring just Common and Rainey Jr.; it's not embeddable, so you'll have to go THERE to watch it.

Expertly shot & edited. Done with so much insight & attention to detail that most women who see it can't believe it was created by a man.
